MechCorps BattleTech Pods at The Guy Expo, Houston, November 6-8

What could be more manly than a convention featuring the Houston Texans Football, Rocket's Basketball, Astros Baseball, Aeros Hockey, Dynamos Soccer, and Energy Stadium Football organizations (oh, yeah, AND their Cheerleaders) and street machine car show and tailgating supplies and food vendors and a "Miss Guy" competition and a "beer-a-thon"?

For me, the only thing missing would be a way to bring my buds and PWN them in head to head competition.

Hey?
What if there were a bunch of simulators that we could jump into and beat the living crap out of each other in futuristic virtual warfare?

Then, afterwards toast our victory with a round of beers while watching a replay of the battle proving our superiority!

THAT, my friends, is why MechCorps will be at "The Guy Expo" this November 6-8 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX. We will be bringing EIGHT Virtual World Tesla II, BattleTech Cockpit Simulator Pods to this event to bring joy and smack talk to the other Guy -- MechCorps

The Drawing Board Question

Hey all,

Sorry for my ignorance, but I have a question for you all, and I can't seem to find an answer. My gang of MechWarrior 2nd Edition players all use The Drawing Board 1.0.23 for mech design, as Heavy Metal is too expensive and the newer designer (the name escapes me) won't do mixed mechs, and for an RPG set on Solaris IIV that won't cut it. However, there are five technology bases listed in TDB. Clan, InnerSphere, InnerSphere 'C', Mixed InnerSphere Chassis, and Mixed Clan Chassis. Clan and IS I get. Is IS 'C' from the back of Technical Readout 3050 where it talks about techs slapping captured clan weapon systems onto IS mechs? What is the difference between Mixed IS Chassis and IS 'C'? This is kind of important as our game is set pre-invasion. Our team has access to ComStar LostTech as they are undercover ROM agents that have infiltrated a Mafia ran stable as deep cover operatives. And they are fighting opponents that may have captured Clan tech (depending on how Twink -- TheGameMaster

From the convention away missions with MechCorps' Mobile Armor Division, there is developing a strong BattleTech contingency in the land of Acadiana, otherwise known as Louisiana. The various lances in this region have asked for an event for which they can collectively attend at our Headquarters in Houston, TX and prove their piloting skills in the Virtual World, Tesla II BattleTech Pods.

MechCorps would hereby like to invite all 'Mech pilots receiving this message to the gathering on December 11 and 12, 2009. It is a low-key event that will allow for a selection of entertaining missions for New Recruits up to hearty competition for BattleTech Masters.

Final Exam

Robinson,
Draconis March, Federated Suns
23 May 3024

“What the hell am I doing?” Phineas asked himself, not for the first time. This was stupid and certain to get him into trouble he didn’t need.

Trouble. Now that was something he was familiar with. In the four years that he had attended the Robinson Battle Academy, it seemed to follow him everywhere. Not that he didn’t ask for it sometimes; Phineas had a problem with the pecking order at the newly reopened MechWarrior training academy.

Technically, anyone who showed potential in piloting a BattleMech, the walking engines of war that dominated the 31st century battlefield, should be able to attend the Robinson Battle Academy, but that wasn’t reality. The limited class seats went to the sons and daughters of the Federated Suns nobility, regardless of ability.

The only reason Phineas Black was there was because of his family history. It was good publicity for the academy to admit a descendant of a Kentares Massacre -- Hotwire

microMechwarrior

I've just created microMechwarrior - a very small, abbreviated set of rules that captures (I hope) the basic mechanics and essence of what a Mechwarrior RPG needs. I went back to the 1st edition of Mechwarrior, as well as some other influences that I've used in other RPG gaming At a digest/booklet size, it clocks in at 6 pages rules, 1 page of "fluff" and 1 paragraph of copyright/legalese. That's compared to the roughly 67 pages of actual rules in MW1 and the 402 page (!!) behemoth that is Time of War beta.

It's meant as a "rules light" alternative to the heavier RPGs, as a quick and dirty "beer and pretzels" Mechwarrior RPG. I feel kinda funny sharing it on Catalyst's forum, but perhaps someone here might give it a whirl and see what you think? Worst case, I have something I can use at my WinterWar 2010 Battletech/Mechwarrior/horror sci-fi scenario.

All,
I'm in Afghanistan and to pass the time, I was looking to create some vehicles with my spare time. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the Vehicle Construction Forge (or other vehicle editors) to work on my system. I'm running Vista 64 and from what I understand there's no work around.

Does anyone have the vehicle construction rules out of the book scanned or programmed in to MS Excel? I'd greatly appreciate it. -- Utopian

Question: What Faction in the BT universe is the one that you hate the most. I mean if given a chance to stick it to them and cut out their heart with a spoon, which faction would you choose?

For me it is a toss up between the CC and the DC. Both are pretty inept in my opinion and their leadership is a joke for the most part. The most stupidest aspect of both of them is their unwillingness to change with the times in my opinion.
