"Darkfall: Unholy Wars - Aventurine "gets it". I wish all MMO devs did."

If you wade through some of the fanboy-ism you might discover a few more thought provoking posts which might trigger some Neveron related déjà vu feelings:

Without having seen or experienced a fully 'finished' and or polished product (Darkfall: Unholy Wars) yet it should still be safe to say that it looks like "Darkfall: Unholy Wars" is heading the same direction like its predecessor, "Darkfall".

Personally I'm already expecting game (design) history to repeat itself, you know, same lead designer / developer, probably largely the same team as well, same direction (focus on full loot, open world PVP) and therefore -- NeverSayNever</description>

			<link>http://www.sarna.net/forums/showflat.php?Number=165700</link>
			<description>Hey all.
Thought I would share a link to a game that is very similar to Battletech.

It's a turn-based, browser game that is free to play. It's pretty fun.

I'm trying to help build the game's player base a bit. (It's not my game btw.)
I'm not allowed to post links yet, so please just google or visit:

Bad news for browser game developers running on a tight budget and using - or planning to use - flash technologies for their game/s?

Yet another encouragement to use other standardized web technologies - like, for example, HTML 5 - instead?

Another good reason to try using platform independent, more open solutions for browser games?

If I may offer this prediction: Coming in a next gen console game will be invisible, seamless and highly interactive processes designed and lab tested to keep gamers playing within their own unique "flow envelope" leading to more of the kind of game play experience where one loses their sense of time. The technology will utilize the camera in the console (or the camera already built into a pc or tablet) which will be linked to an imbedded software track running linearly within the game. What do you get if you deny the whole remaining playerbase of a hardcore, PvP-focused game their daily PvP 'fixes' / 'ganks'?

A seriously [censored] off / frustrated playerbase consisting of hardcore PvP 'addicts' suffering from withdrawal symptoms?

What do you get if aforementioned [censored] off / frustrated hardcore playerbase meets at their hardcore PvP game's forums?

Hardcore forums (nerd) rage?

How to visualize aforementioned rage caused by withdrawal symptoms?

Well, how about a bunch of hardcore PvP players / lab rats sitting in their empires / cages frantically pushing a temporarily defunct "Attack Enemy" button / food pellet dispenser button?

How to fix aforementioned situation?

Fix the "Attack Enemy" button / food pellet dispenser button, you say? - Sure, that could help if the button was the only issue which needed fixing.

Hopefully the old core C&amp;C game(play) turns out to be the main focus of the new Free-To-Play game while the cash shop part turns out to be a mere byproduct / necessary evil to help keep the servers up and running - and generate some revenue - as a byproduct -, too.

On the other hand, if the cash shop part turns out to be the main / sole focus and the core game play is no or too little fun I'll simply reactivate my old mothballed PC and start playing old school C&amp;C again.

<title>Need proofreaders for a new tabletop gothic role playing game</title>
			<link>http://www.sarna.net/forums/showflat.php?Number=164706</link>
			<description>Hi,

My name is Javier CUesta (AKA Mantis in Neveron and Rantamplan in MW4 when i used to play it), I recently completed and released the spanish version of a new gothic role playing game called "Penumbra: the gothic post-apocalyptic role playing game" (But in spanish).

Now Im working on its translation into english, since I do not have money for paying a profesional translator (more on this laters) I did the translation myself and now Im looking for people that is interested in checking how the book is written and rewritte it in words that any english native talker would use.

I said that I have no money for paying a profesional translator, well the fact is that the project has been made with almost no money, The ilustrations of the book has been donated by severall photographers, the text is mine but some short tales have been donated by Azahara, the layout was almost a gift made by evil design studio... But the result is impresive, please download the game for cheking it in here:

Do you really 'own' that virtual Neveronian 'empire', or a specific virtual in game item (e.g. a Mech), for example?

Any legal / real life consequences to be feared if an unauthorized person messes around with your virtual empire / properties (e.g. via login misuse)?

Or at least any virtual / in game consequences (e.g. via game admin enforced justice / punishment) to be feared if an unauthorized person messes around with your virtual 'empire' / 'assets' / 'investment' / whatever (e.g. via login misuse)?

Or, what happens to accumulated virtual 'properties' / 'investments' (e.g. official trading cards / virtual 'loot' cards) if a game developer / publisher decides to permanently shut down a _persistant_ virtual world's servers/s, for example a MMORPG's like Star Wars Galaxies?
