'This' being my decision to complete the final great revision & update of the venerable HoC Archive. Few are aware that an unreleased major update to the HoC Archive was completed in January of 2008, an update that completely reshaped the chapters of early pre-HoC history and in total added some 30 pages of material to the book (finally smashing the troublesome 300 page barrier). I chose not to release this update because, to be quite frank, I thought I was releasing updates far too frequently. It dilluted a lot of the enthusiasm for the material. It was approximately three years ago, however, that the concept of a HoC Archive was born (how time flies), and my perceptions of the book, what it is, and what it should be, have changed significantly in that time. After replacing several parts on the server that I thought may have bgeen causing the problem, as well as a nerve racking episode of replacing the thermal paste on both the processors that required the removal of the motherboard and almost breaking it in half trying to get the heat sinks off, I put the server back in place and brought it online only to have it shut off again right in front of me. The problem? A faulty battery backup was restarting whenever it felt like it and I just happened to be lucky enough to be there when it did. So yeah all that work when all I really needed to do was plug the server in to the other battery. Awesome. In order: -Installed Neveron ActiveX control -Changed security checkings to allow it to install -Put neveron.com as a trusted website -Downloaded the control manually -registered the control manually ( the "regsvr32 nevctrl1.ocx" commad ) After registering the control, the site stopped asking me to install the control every time i try to get in, but i still keep getting the "failed to authenticate" page. Personally I think Neveron needs to just die, and release those that are still trapped within its gravity field to reengage real life, and find new and better games to play. Neveron was fun, back in the day, and as a concept it has few rivals for sheer grandiosity and vision, but lets face it... Neveron has not been worth one shit since 2006. In the end, if this IS the end, I hope you'll all look at this game's community and history a little differently. Asd I have learned to do.
