Hello again gentlemen, just felt like posting and getting some feedback on a mech I was planning to use in a clan invasion era campaign that will start soon.
So without further ado, meet the Eradicator ERA-1R

Seems pretty good for the clan invasion- huge banks of medium lasers are a great method of destroying Elementals.

But since you won't be firing the Large laser in closer ranges with that ML-spam, why not bump it up to a full ER Large laser? Might as well for the range.

That was my first thought. This is an advanced design. The large laser is something that overlaps the perfectly sized medium laser battery (24 weapon heat / 24 heat capacity) and really doesn't have much more range, so it's likely to be used with the medium lasers.

But an ER large laser has significantly different performance. It overlaps at the low end and can be combined with the medium lasers, but it can reach much further.

I'm also so-so toward Inner Sphere pulse small lasers. Other than the anti-infantry effect (2d6/ea versus conventional infantry) without the ammo headache of MGs, they're less effective than medium lasers: 1/3 the range, less damage, and equal or worse target numbers at ranges 2 and 3. If you want the anti-infantry firepower, I'd keep one and add another medium laser or DHS (if you have the room.) But the pulse laser gripes aren't a big deal.

Cray you hit the intended role on the head for the pulsers I was just rolling with some anti infantry goodness, as while flamers are better at it the thought of burning masses of humans is somewhat disturbing. I may just go with the extra DHS and just mount one though. It does seem like a plan.
With the case of the Large Laser though, it was kind of put in as an afterthought. I put this mech together after reading the entry for the royal exterminator in operation klondike, and thinking, what could I make to fulfil a similar role, and came up with the above.
I simply took the Large laser to use as a 'bug zapper,' having it simply so the mech has 'something' to engage with outside its med las fusilade, and particularly against a fleeing bug mech or two, and just seeing what the er large laser does to my already potentially unforgiving heat curve scared me off somewhat, but then again, I am installing an additional heatsink, so its a whole 2 heat less than prior, oh and is missing the heat of a small pulser, making it same as before... hmm, that does work.
