Overview:
Built by the BattleMech company Planetario Armatura Fabbrica di
Bergendale (Planetary Armor Factory of Bergendale), a small Word of
Blake-controlled company in the FWL, the Infocato Freccia (Fiery
Arrow) was designed as a mobile and highly versatile artillery
support 'Mech barely a year prior to the outbreak of the Blakist
Jihad. Envisioned along the same line of roles as the Capellan
Confederation Catapult BattleMech, the Freccia was called upon to be
able to rapidly move into an suitable position over the battlefield,
and then provide fire support with a large-calibre artillery cannon
of some form - missile racks were passed on in favour of a
weapons-system that would not be hampered by enemy anti-missile
systems so frequently encountered on assault 'Mechs of the day.

Capabilities:
Outfitted with a Sniper artillery cannon mounted in a turret on
the 'Mech's left shoulder, and two tons of ammuntion, the Freccia can
cover a large portion of the battlefield with a deadly barrage of HE
shells, and is well-aided for close fire-support with the presence of
an C3i system in its right torso. Although its endosteel chassis is
quite bulky, it also manages to sport an extended-range medium laser
per arm, and an extended-range backwards-firing small laser. With a
jumping ability that allows it to cross up to 120 metres in a single
bound, and twelve double heatsinks, the Freccia rarely suffers heat
problems, as it would not fire its medium lasers once in position to
unleash the Sniper cannon on the battlefield.

Deployment:
Used in only small amounts through the Blakist Jihad, the Freccia
had quickly faded from use, and were rarely seen by the time of
Devlin Stone's formation of the Republic of the Sphere in the 3080's.
There have been some reports of a small number of the 'Mechs
surviving in the Marian Legion (apparently a batch ordered by the
Marian Hegemony somewhere in the mid-3070's), but the condition and
operational capabilities of these 'Mech's are unknown.

Battle History:
For longe remembered as the awkwardly shaped, ungainly 'Mech that
would advance along the flanks, find a hill or strong building to
stand on, and then rain down HE on everything that moved (including
the odd misplaced shell that managed to land amongst friendly
troops), the Freccia never had much of an illustrious career.
Although its C3i system was particularly useful for delivering
accurate damage against targets painted by other friednlies within
it's circuit, the Freccia was not exactly a key figutre on the
battlefield. A memorable account speaks of a Blakist Freccia that had
jumped onto the top of a chemical factory, and had destroyed an
entire enemy vehicle lance by firing a Sniper shell into one of the
storage tanks the vehicles had been passing at that very moment
before jumping off again.

Known Variants:
Only the base FRC-7s was ever seen, although some field refits
for reserve-line Freccia's stripped out the back-firing laser,
downgraded the C3i system to a normal C3 slave unit, and then added
two tons of ammunition for extended artillery barrages.

good fluff, interesting design. I like it, it is a rare day to see sniper (the artillery) mechs. I like the usage of level 3 tech, and thing it makes a nice flavorful design.
I find that 'pinpoint' accuracy during a bombing run increases proportionally with the amount of munitions used.
