------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Overview:== The Firestorm made its debut in 2763, manufactured by Technicron Manufacturing. With inspiration from the company's other mech designs, the Firestorm was conceived as a hybrid design with the firepower of the Awesome and the mobility of the Quickdraw. Technicron Manufacturing used many of the same parts found in both mechs to speed up development and simplify production across all mech production lines.
==Capabilities:== Weighing in at 60 tons, the Firestorm is at the lighter end of the heavy mech class. Powered by an 300 Vlar Extra-light engine, the Firestorm is capable of reaching speeds of 86 km/h and jumping 120 meters with four Chilton 460 jumpjets. Ten and a half tons of standard Durellex Heavy armor protect the endo-steel frame; while not as much as the Awesome, it is considerably more then the Quickdraw and comparable to most other heavy mechs.
The primary armament is three Kreuss Particle Projection Cannons mounted in the arms and left torso give the Firestorm an immense amount of damage potential at range and all firing arcs. With lessons learned from the Awesome, the Firestorm is given two Omnicon 4000 Medium Lasers for close range defense, one of which is mounted to the rear. 14 double heat sinks manage heat buildup from firing the weapon systems.
Much detail went into the design of the cockpit. A robust and redundant life support system protects the Mechwarrior from heat buildup, which has unfortunately resulted in a rather confined area for the pilot to control the mech.
Design quirk: Improved Life Support and Cramped Cockpit.
==Variants:== As production of the Firestorm begin just prior to the start of the Star League Civil War, many were bought up by Kerensky's forces to replaces losses at a high rate. As such, Technicon Manufacturing focused simply on production in the interim rather then spend money and time on R&D of a new variant.
One custom variant was recorded of a SLDF unit repairing a heavily damaged Firestorm and bring it up to "Royal Division" specifications. The arm mounted PPCs were replaced with an extended-range version of unknown manufacturer. The damaged left torso PPC was replaced with a left over Delta Dart LRM-10 launcher and one ton of ammo and an Artemis IV FCS. Half a ton of armor is removed to install a CASE system to protect the missile ammo from cooking off.

A faster lighter awesome with jump jets. Interesting. Nice to see it's walk speed if faster then the awesomes run speed. It is a little unexpected to see the armor less then max, but not really a deal breaker. The inclusion of a rear mounted weapon is nice, but wondering if it is necesary, since the speed and jets would help keep the enemy from getting there easily.
I like the hand actuators, though some would say remove them and the lower arms so you could flip the arms to cover the rear better.

Eh, the medium laser to the rear is more for fluff and uniqueness to maybe ward off light mechs. The hand actuators are for brawling and to try and make it stand out from a war hammer. I try not to create The Perfect Mech and will try to add something to cover a weakness (minimum range weapons) unless its something like a general purpose mech.
