Has any one else had any problems with windows XP not writing the 3 files to the desktop. For some reason mine stopped writing these file one day. I fought two battles in the arenas then in the same day it stopped writing the files and the map wouldn't load. I had changed no settings, I had not downloaded or installed any new programs, and I disabled the fire wall. The error I get is that activeX can't write the files for some reason. Does any one have any ideas, casue I've tried every thing that I can think of????

I had the same situation, day 1 it's working fine, day 2 it's dead in the water. It wasn't even sp2 that got installed, but one of the random security updates. I didn't even think to write down the number for it, so I can't tell Randy/Wayward Son which one it was that totally nerfed things.
Now I just have to survive by using my laptop which runs an outdated system, as nothing I've tried has been able to solve the problems with activeX and neveron's battle map.

I had the same problem, only way I found to fix it was format C: and reinstall windows. A slow painfull process but at least it's working again

So out side of reformating my hard drive or using another computer with an older opperating system no one has any ideas???? Cause this problem is only going to grow as XP becomes more wide spread and fewwer and fewwer machines will be running older OSes. I think the security update that may have casued the problem is the malicious promgram system tool. As far as I know there is no way to adjust it or even to remove it. Maybe this will give some one an idea as where to go to solve this problem.

... Try uninstalling Service Pack 2? It is a peice of junk any way that breaks more than it fixes.
You know how to uninstall windows updates right?

Ok.
Start > Settings Control Pannel
Double Click "Add/Remove Programs"
In there you should be able to find Windows Service Pack 2 and uninstall it.

that won't work becasue there version of XP I have installed from the windows disk is service pack 2. It would be kind of like tring to uninstall the second edition if you had installed win 98 second edition.

well the last word I got from the admins was it was a browser setting issue. If all of my activeX settings are enabled then it should scpirt but it doesn't. So I enabled everything, still nothing. Still how can it be a browser setting issue if I never changed them before they started to not work. I had noticed that the whole battle screan no longer falling under the umbrella that was supposed to cover all thier pages so they were trusted, I added them specificly and still nothing. So I'm not seeing how this could be a browser issue if everything is enabled, but then again when it stopped working I hadn't changed any settings. Removing any of the updates isn't an option appartently Maybe I'm just going to have to load up win98 on a second hard drive and set my machine up to cable selet and switch between the OSes since ther is very little I can do about this problem. I just hope this problem doesn't grow as more and more computers start using newwer OSes. So my warnigns to any one using any newwer OSes is to not update ur OS, leave the giant gaps in ur OS's sercurity, leave those exploits open and hope no one hits you with something that takes advantage of that exploit.
