I would call it a 1-ton protomech armed with only a RAC-1 and a Micro Laser. Not quite as impressive as the Mackie.
Still, it's a good start and now we know that Battlemechs are that much more possible.

looks alot like the Fire Ant from MC2. Only it don't have any flamers. Also the weapons/arms look like the Urbie's.

Yeah, and if a mortar explodes next to it, the concussion wil knock it flat. Very useful, I must say.

Yup, I noted the roller-skating action... the feet move back and forward, but don't go up and down...
no ground clearance - and no need for a gyro and complicated balancing system. If it managed to
get 50 cm of ground clearance with each step, then it qualifies as a bona-fide walker - atm it's a
dalek with legs.
Ahh... the invasion of the Daleks - halted by the first gutter they encounter! Maybe some jumpjets are
required to negotiate the obstacle, or maybe a crane?

That reminds me- I don't remember where The URL is, but a company somewhere in the world has also designed a six legged... well, loggermech for lack of a better term... The legs move in a static, piston driven motion and it mounts a large claw on the top to haul lumber with... It was touted on the website as "the ultimate logger vehicle, can reach places no truck or crane could ever get to"... It looks for all the world like a giant ant with a claw on it's forehead... Now all we need is someone to mount a machinegun to it and we'd have the first Quad... Well, six legged but close enough...

Yeah, that's pretty awesome that the company actually has them in their product line-up. Too bad it's not commercially available. If I had money to burn then I'd buy one just to encourage them to keep making more. Then I'd throw in some ballistic glass and arm it with a fire hose on a turret linked to a helmet like the Apachee helicopter has. Keep the arm but give it a huge claw for taking out light-posts and cars. Paint it black with SWAT in big white letters on the side and terrorize madi gras! The populous would think the police had gone mad with power, and the police would flip out and bring in even heavier firepower to stop the monstrocity! Thus aiding the publics fear that it is the police doing it.
On second thought, maybe I shouldn't have one of those.
