Okay here is one for fun:

Pick ONE leve three Weapon and build a mech that comes in at 55 tons. You need to supply the why and how, for the use of the level 3 weapon.

You can use either level 1 or level 2 tech to build the rest of the mech, but ONE of the weapons has to be a level 3 weapon.

Also let's keep things with in reason, so keep the munchkin levels down.

PCK-5P Peacekeeper

55 tons

Chassis: TermoElectron II
Power Plant: PlasmaStar 220 XL
Cruising Speed: 43
Maximum Speed: 64.5
Jump Jets: Rawlings 55
Jump Capacity: 120 meters
Armor: Durallex Super Medium Ferro-Fibrous
Armament:
1 Large X-Pulse Laser
1 LB 10-X AC
4 Medium Lasers
4 Machine Guns
Manufacturer: Johnson 'Mechworks Inc.
Primary Factory: Soul
Communications System: Sony MST-15
Targeting and Tracking System: Wayne Marksman

Overview:
The design team at Johnson 'MechWorks, Inc. is always up for the
challenge, so when the call went out for a 55-ton medium 'Mech built
around a single piece of new technology, they jumped in without
hesitation. Choosing a Diverse Optics Large X-Pulse Laser for both
range and accuracy, and supporting it with an Imperator smooth-bore
LB-X Autocannon, they realized they had the makings of a nasty
city-fighter on their hands. Downgrading the engiine rating and
using tried-and-true Xtra-Lite technology saved enough tonnage for
120m jump capability, near-maximum armour coverage, and substantial
back-up firepower.
Reasonably mobile, heavily armoured, and bristling with weapons,
the PCK-5P Peacekeeper is sure to impress.

Capabilities:
No one is entirely sure where JMInc. got their hands on a Large
X-Pulse laser for the prototype (and their acquisitions department
ain't tellin') but it's presence on this 'Mech is an awesome sight.
Equivalent range to a standard Large Laser with the deadly accuracy
of pulse technology make the weapon a battlefield terror, and the
supporting armament, while less advanced, is no less impressive. The
LB-X/Pulse laser combo provides fantastic accuracy at range, but ther
versatility of its weapon complement is what sets the Peacekeeper
apart from your average "police" 'Mech. A 4-pack of Magna Medium
lasers (2 mounted in the back for maximum coverage) support the
primary weapons nicely, and an array of 4 mini-guns encourage
harrassing infantry to keep their heads down. Jump capability
provides needed mobility far better than a larger engine would,
ensuring that the PCK-5P can get to where it's most needed.

1 Luxor Devastator-20 Caseless AC/20 (THB)
Manufacturer: Pfiffer War
Location: Unknown
Communications System: Unknown
Targeting & Tracking System: Unknown

==Overview:==
Very little is known about the Retrospect. The only time it has been sighted
was on a small raid on the planet of New Samerkand in the Draconis Combine.
Accounts of this mech are from Mechwarriors who survived the intense urban
combat against these machines.
The basic information gained was a centurian shaped mech weighing 55 tons.
both arms it had a medium laser and it also mounted another in the center
torso. Most fearsome, however, was the Caseless AC/20 mounted in the right
torso.

Sources say that a single lance of these mechs stormed a Mech parts storage
warehouse and held it while it was scraped clean of all materials and then
left. It is reported that a lance of lights and a lance of mediums along with
a small squad of vehicles, not to mention infantry, were wiped out by these
invaders.

Neither Clan or Inner Sphere know about these invaders. The only possible
link may be the name Pfiffers War engraved on the mechs or possibly the sales
of Diverse optic lasers and Luxor AC/20 to unknown customers.

==Capabilities:==
From eye witness reports this mech is outstanding at close range but has no
signs of long range weaponry which could be exploited against them. They are
quick mechs that are able to close to optimum range easily.

==Battle History:==
Only known history is the raid on New Samarkand.

==Variants:==
No variants known

==Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:==
The Mechs in the raid on New Samarkand were expertly piloted and well handl
indicating either Clan warriors or Elite Innersphere soldiers.

==Deployment==
Urban deployment and close range situations are optimum for this mech as it
vulnerable to long range mechs.

Notes:
When solicitations were issued for a medium 'mech with a single peice of advanced technology, the designers at Huber Heavy Industries went to work designing the Quiver. They immediately settled on the newly deveoloped Extended LRM-20 system. Due to the increadible size, the 'mech had to be designed entirely around the system. A quadrupedal chassis was decided upon to give the 'mech greater firing stability and the ability to go "hull down" for cover. The engineers felt that the weapons range-1140 meters-would be a valuable battlefeild asset. To inncrease the weapons efficency the design team incorperated an Artemis IV system to help guide the missiles to their target. The combination of the systems allows the Quiver to accurately engage targets at ranges that were previously impossible. However, all that range comes at a high price. Requiring a booster stage, the ELRM is virtualy useless inside of 300 meters. Also the heavy weight precluded a strong back-up weapon on the Quiver which mounts a Medium Pulse Laser as its only defence to close-in targets. This was considered a limitation, but was decided that if three of the 'mechs were paired with a strong recon 'mech they could take advantage of indirect fire and never have to see the enemy. The strategy also has benifits to HHI in the form of increased profits.

DV-6M-X-LAMS Dervish

In 3031 two small technology companies, one producing attitude controll devices for comunication lasers upon spacecrafts, the other one developing subsystems for atmospheric fighters radar systems, developed an experimental compact missile defense system. The system is capable of destroying missiles at a very short range, employing modified light lasers, with considerably reduced power but a several times higher rate of fire. Live fire prototype test have been succesfull, and by using rather expensive high tech materials weight and size could be reduced far enough to accomodate it in a mech.

Several standard mechs have been outfited with the experimental device. Most promissing was it if mounted at a Dervish. This medium firesupport mech has the mobility to stay out of most weapon ranges of heavier mechs, while it delivers precise long range fire. However it is very vulnerable to oppsing LRM fire. It does not employ the armour to allow it skirmishes with heavy firesupport mechs.

Three used Dervishes have been bought, to refit them as testbeds for the new AMS. Droping 25% (5 pts) armour from the CT and 13% (2 pts) from left and right torso was necessary to accomodate the device in the CT, slightly below the head.

To compensate the weight of the device one medium laser had to be droped. In two machines the left one was selected for this, in one the right laser, due to problems with the right arms actuators. The power lines supplying those lasers have been rerouted to the device.

Test of the Dervishes have been very promissing. The only major problem experienced was the immense increas of heat, cause by the power consumption of the lasers. (12ht). When fired after both missile launchers have been fired the heat ratings of the mechs reached dangerous values, wich forced the pilots to find cover or disengage and cool down.

The extreme price of the device and financial difficulties of the companies, paired with disinterest prevented the laser AMS from being produced. Within the next years. in 3035 one of the companies became bancrupt, and a legal dispute between the two companies holding the patents locked the patents for years.

Two of the mechs, prototype designations DV-6M-X-LAMS 1 and DV-6M-X-LAMS 3 have been auctioned after the bancrupcy of one company. A mech dealer from Galatea offered the highest bid of 9.5 B C-Bills. The current wherabouts of those mechs is not known.
