I do not think it is. You probably miscalculated or bought new units with hefty maintenance rates or claimed new zones, or your average market sales went down ect. I wouldn't worry, unless it is hundreds of thousands of dollars difference per day.

Did your average empire morale drop?
That may be the cause of it.

Assuming you have a 100% employment rate (exactly, no excess people and no homeless) than the population of your empire will not effect the ammount of income you get from the moral bonus.

The reason is that your average citizen moral is calculated based on your total empire moral. It is something like total moral/# population. As a result you get something like 10 Average moral, which translates into an income boost of 10%.

Now the thing to realize here, is that if you increase your population without somehow increasing your total moral, then your average moral will drop because it is amongst more people. So instead of getting a 10% bonus you get a 9% bonus. But you have more people working in your empire and thus a higher income that is getting the bonus, so it ends up being the same # of dollars that you were getting previously.

The opposite is also true. If you lose people in such a way that doesn't change your empire's total moral, than your averge moral will go up, but you have a lower base income getting the bonus so the bonus ends up being the same.

Most likely your empire does not have a 100% employment rate. That is when things change. Out of work people don't contribute fully to the moral bonus income, so that changes the equation in such a way where it is possible to gain people, but have a lower bonus.

Also keep in mind that average moral is rounded off. So if you have an average moral of 9.5 it will show as 10. In addition, moral slowly degrades.
