This was going t to be a constructive suggestion for the admisn on how to fix the problems they created with the recent update (plus a nice list of "alternative living homes" where there are nurses and psycologists to help care for mentaly disabled people, and work towards independance!). But now I have a suggestion for the moniters of this forum. Create an option where one doesn't lose a 45 minutes of writing when one forgets to put a subject in... I will try to recreate my cruelly erased suggestion here
4. Fourthly, anyone who is level 2 or above who is not in a faction in in every way protected from FWAR inactivity penalties. You may join a faction, level up until you are ready to join one, or choose to "go it alone". This update was not meant to be a sort of punitive measure against NOOBS, But It ultimately ruins all unfactioned empires. In light of these recent events, we have realised that we cannot force players to join factions, so whether you being to be factioned sooner, later, or never is in your best interest, you will be accomidated. This will allow players to once again grow without joining a faction, give some truth to our promise made when factions were implemented ("there will be advanteges and and disadvantages to both joining a faction and not joining a faction").
*wakes up from daydream and resumes hysterical screams*
Which do you think is better; my imaginary update or the admins' (which is also imaginary in the sense that it would only work in theory):
Quote:
4. Fourthly, anyone who is level 2 or above who is not in a faction is not in any way protected from FWAR inactivity penalties. You either need to join a faction, not level up until you are ready to join one, or be prepared to use training to offset the infrequent skill-ups. This is not some sort of punitive measure against NOOBS, as you will find that unfactioned level 5's and 4's are often targeted by factions, so being factioned sooner is in your best interest, and upon reaching level 5 you can start you own faction.

we would heavily exploit your idea.
if there was no penalty for being unfactioned, an alliance could send the majority of their members unfactioned, and protect them the in the old way. (used to do this before factions) maybe keep a few factions who won FWARS already, and constantly swap members, they'd join for 2 weeks, to receive full faction transfers in that time.
factions are there for only about three years now. that's half of nev's time. they'd been introduced as the vast hidden network of alliances was choking the game.

It is better than making all unfactioned empires' units skill 8

As an alternative, empires that get say 5% of thier size in a month in war rating (same % as what is required of FLs losing a Fwar) should be exempt from penalties. That way an individual who does LW sufficiently can avoid the penalties, even if the faction is not yet ready or able to fdow.
