Building expansions

I was looking at my zones and I thought about something. I have a bunch of buildings from before I researched higher CF buildings. They're not all that useful but there's no point in demolishing them. That got me thinking: wouldn't it be nice if i could make them useful by say, adding on to a completed building and giving it more CF, more floors, or a basement? (Then again, logically speaking it might be difficult adding a basement to a completed building. But hey, it's the future.)

Mentioned before. Would need a building cost modifier along with increased build time. Support it.

I like the idea but i think it would be too diffult to code.

Lets say a CF 25 -> 150.

The cf 25 building would have to "shut down production, renting of homes, ect, ect" because you cant do reventions on a building with it in use.

Also the time would have to decrease because its already partly made, along with costs.

You don't actually have to shut down. There was a pizzahut near me that shut off an area,knocked it down, and built an entirely new building using space from the knocked down area. All within the same lot.

Well try working with the noise next to you. A building can not be worked on without slowing down perduction. A govenment would not have a building occupied when workers can see whats going on in the inside. Also a building that has an extention on it doesnt pervide the same room as would one larger room would.

i think they should put in an extra build feature as in if you build a 50 cf building and at a later date want to go to a say 75 cf so you pay for 75 cf ground work but only use it as a 50 cf so then down the road when you have the green backs you just pay the diff and then it would start to go to a 75cf building this is done in real life today do you think a 80 story high rise waits for all 80 floors to be done before they start to use the building no they dont

or, with the new city burn rules giving you decent cash back just burn and use the money to rebuild larger

Yeah it would make sense to be able to expand buildings. People would have less zones, therefor less units, so would help the database as well as the player.
On that note, if it makes perfect sense, it'll either be twisted until its junk or never implimented.
