Lost a unit in Arena
      #99701 - 11/13/04 02:39 PM (65.165.171.2)

Was in Arena, went up against a foot unit of someones, I made a couple of moves, we'd both fired but not hit, went to an attack around, I was fully armored and unhurt, and all of a sudden said it couldn't find a unit I controlled, and exited. Is it possible for MG military to destroy a jeep in one shot? The unit is gone, not in transit, just gone.

Yes, it is very possible for an MG unit to kill a jeep in one shot.

Inf do a LOT of dammage if they hit. A full strength MG inf unit will do 10 dammage (2 groups of 5) per hit. Thus I am not surprised your unit died.

When dealing with inf it is always best to stay out of range if possible (their range tends to be very limited).

Stuff to keep in mind when dealing with inf:
As their unit loses men, they do less dammage. They will always do at least 1 dammage.

MG's and Flamers do double dammage to them.

Energy weapons have their dammage divided by 10 (to a minimum of 1).

Inf take double dammage if they are not under cover (trees, rough, in a building).

Erm, Kit, I think thats wrong. (Or, atleast, the really old outdated helpfiles say its wrong, so.... I wouldn't know.)

What the outdated helpfiles say are...

MachineGuns and Flamers do 4-14 damage.

All Energy Weapons do 1 damage. Particle Weapons (PPCs) do 2.

SRM's do double-damage (LRMs might?)

Ballistics do half-damage... (Rounded down, on the AC/5, I think.)

Any uncovered infantry (Not in a building/trees/rough) takes double damage. (Thus, normal damage for autocannons. 2 for lasers, quad for SRMs...)

Disclaimer: (As if I didn't mention it before.) This is from the outdated help files, and may not be accurate! Believe to be true at your own risk!

Ack, you are right.

MG's and Flamers do 4-14 dammage. It is SRM's that do double.

I also got the divided by wrong. All energy weapons do dammage/5 minimum of 1 and rounded down.

AC's do half dammage (rounded down).

Double dammage in the open.
