Inf emplacements
      #132645 - 06/17/06 07:49 PM (66.229.193.94)

Tower weapon type; allows one platoon of infantry to shelter in a tower as if it were a building; also allows them to use heavier, anti-vehicle and anti-mech weapons, which do the same amount of damage but permit them to use the tower's range modifier (x2, x3). Weight, 15 tons.

Oooooooooo!

Sounds interesting, but how about increasing infantries' weapon range according to x2, x3 instead, and you have to have some sort of infantry storage space weighing a few tons to be mounted inside (may mount only 1 per tower).

That will be PERFECT for improving infantries!

Isn't that exactly what I suggested? except that instead of only 1 per tower i had it take the spot of a weapon.

Hmmm, okay.

15 ton seems a bit much though, at least for 1x range.

We don't need new and interesting ways for people to abuse infantry.

Might as well just say that you just want infantry removed, don't need to put it in such a hard way.

I'm in full support of this "infantry bunker" idea.

Inf bunkers would be good, but I think that they should be a dedicated type of tower, with only the bunker in it. Just require inf weapons in the creation, and instead of V weapons for the skill, use the inf weapons.

Also, if the bunker is blown up, the inf would probably die, so there is no need to have the inf life even tracked. Just consider it a full force inf unit until the bunker is killed.

To prevent inf abuse (hordes of inf), maybe code in these 3 features:

-Reduce inf size to 21
-All infantries of gun 6 and 7 has a chance (gun6 having less chance than gun7) to flee from battle.
-For each 3 inf platoon, there must be 1 friendly vehicle or mech in the same battlefield, otherwise, the excess infantries need to roll 5-6 out of 1D6 will flee the battle.
