Well its been a very long time, doubt anyone even remebers me around here. Anyhow I was board and its been at least a year since I really did anything battletechy, except playing some megamech solo from time to time. Anyhow be kind as I'm out of practice and I'm sure this is filled with annoying typos mistakes and holes. (ps yes it is 5 tons heavier than an Urbie, and yes its probally been designed countless times [in fact if i kept stuff organized I'm sure I've designed it before myself]) BattleMech Technical Readout

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Overview:== The Nergal is the product of a long and haphazard design path in the Free World's LEague. Originally intended as a refit kit for the FWL's aging Urbanmechs. The goal of the kit was to modernize the aging mech's weapondry and allow it to better serve in a variety of defensive and garrison type roles. Unfortunately this refit kit whgich began work in 3051 was still no closer to success by 3053, when the funding for the project was pulled. Luckily in 3054 Corean Industries on Stewart began a massive project to revitalize its aging mech lines and re-evaluate its efficiency and market share. During this revitalization Corean determined that too many of its lines were dedicated to producing the largely ineffectual and extremely common Locust Battlemech. In an effort in innovation Corean Industry executives began project Spring Cleaning to review designs that the line could be retooled to produce. Among these designs were specifications for over 50 different types of refit kit, including the unsuccessful Urbanmech Gauss Rifle project. Corean engineers reviewing the refit kits were amazed to find a number of viable kits, that through bureaucratic incompetence and faulty testing had been incorrectly identified as failures. From this realization the engineers began reworking the Urbanmech Guass Rifle project to correct the relatively minor problems the unit faced and ready it for presentation to the FWL military. The military presentation was aimed as a means of defining the greatest marketability with FWL officials having final decision between the Urbanmech project and two other designs (a FWL version of the spider, and an updated Tarantula). The FWL military panel decided unanimously on the Urbanmech project thoroughly impressed by the mech's extremely small price tag and its capability to cripple or destroy common heavier units. Complete retolling of the Locust line on Stewart took 3 more years and the first of the newly dubbed Nergal battlemechs began marching off the line in fall of 3059.
==Deployment== The Nergal has met with mixed reviews since its appearance. Proponnents of the design compare it favorably to the urbanmech as a cheap modern replacement that is capable of acting in a number of roles the Urbanmech never could, most notably as a firesupport mech. Many of the components of the new design are relatively ancient and widely available which allows the new Nergals to be easily and inexpensively repaired even on the most backwater of planets. Unfortunately the design's critics have attacked countless aspects of the design, from its tracking and communication system adapted from the Locust to its rounded shape that makes the mech appear more like a boulder or large rock than even a Urbanmech. The largest criticism levied against the new design however is one of politics. To keep up the hurried production of the Nergal the FWL has entered into large scale trade agreements with House Liao as well as a number of smaller periphery states to secure the Pitban jumpjets and older actuators in mass. These agreements have come under pointed criticism particular because of the FWL's agreement with House Liao to trade design specifications on the Nergal as well as a large quantity of the popular Gauss Rifle it mounts.

I find that 'pinpoint' accuracy during a bombing run increases proportionally with the amount of munitions used.

That's a good, solid refit. Decent mobility for what it is, good armor, big gun and enough ammo for it. Very nice!

The price is definatly right. It gives new life to a design that had too specialized of a role.

Interesting take on the Hollander style mech which has a similar weapons mounting. I think yours is even with that mech if not better in some areas. I do like the fluff and mechs like this really are interesting because it forces a player to think before he or she acts.
