The Syrian Assault Battle Armor is a much heavier cousin to the SAMAS battle armor (see SAMAS thread). The SABA is definitely meant to be mechanized on Syrian battle armor IFVs - it lacks the high mobility of the SAMAS - though it is more mobile than foot infantry and on par with heavily armed motorized and jump infantry.

The SABA does not have the advanced, lightweight, bulky armor of the SAMAS. For this reason, it has only slightly better protection than the SAMAS. However, the SABA has a great deal more firepower. The SABA's fixed weapons are a pair of Mag Shot gauss rifles, one on either arm. Its primary weapons are missiles: the detachable missile rack is either a pair of LRM 4s (with 3 shots each) or a pair of SRM 5 one shot racks.

When SABAs are fielded with LRMs, a squad represents 32 LRM tubes, more than a pair of LRM 15s, and a company is a daunting LRM salvo. This is the typical open-field SABA configuration and is expected to supplement conventional Syrian armor - high-priority targets are anything with artillery or SRM infernos - or provide enhanced site defense. A company of SABAs with LRMs is also one of a SAMAS battalion's best friends.

With SRMs, SABAs are dangerous short-range combatants. A squad can salvo 40 SRMs before laying into the target with Mag Shots. SRM SABAs are also escorts to SAMASs in this situation - SABAs have no swarming ability.

COMBAT HISTORY
SABAs performed well in Syrian Holds engagements with WoB forces, mostly because the Holds deployed them in large numbers. A battalion of SABAs behind a regiment of SAMASs can wreck six WoB mechs in short order. In urban ambush situations with SRMs, they can (and did) stagger a mech for critical seconds while SAMASs swarm the target.

The LRM model, er, neglected ammo for its launchers.

Thus, it actually carries:

LRM 4, detachable, 250kg, torso
6 shots, 200kg, torso

Have you done this one up via HMBA yet?

Nope. I'd need to get around to reviving the whole alternate Sirian Holds set-up, which is about 3 years in the past now.

Okay was wondering, I have been trying to convert some of my older ideas for BA to the new rules and remember you had some up, so I thought I would ask.
