------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Overview:== Since its introduction into combat, the Demolisher Heavy Tank has earned a reputation as one of the most deadly vehicles on the battlefield. Although frightened enemy troops have often exaggerated their reports, the Demolisher is definitely a superb battle machine. It was the first heavy tank produced by Aldis Industries, and still is the most popular. The Aldis engineers conceived of the Demolisher project in the early days of the Succession Wars as a solution to the 'Mech technology problem. The Aldis designers hoped to create a vehicle heavy enough to destroy any 'Mech, which they could sell to the worlds unable to afford 'Mech forces. The first line of Demolishers was an amazing success. Many worlds not protected by standing 'Mech armies bought hundreds of Demolishers. This tall, squat, four-tread model is the one most often thought of as a Demolisher to this day. However, Aldis Industries soon released the Demolisher Mk II, a shorter version with a better suspension system and only two tread units.
==Capabilities:== The Demolisher HGR is a simple upgrade of the twin-tracked Demolisher chassis. Besides minor tweaks to the oft-troubled electronics and communications and the very substantial change to a 240 Pitban fusion engine (necessary for the new weapons). The primary change is the new weaponry: a pair of Poland Model 0MFG Heavy Gauss Rifles. This necessitated converting the Demolisher from a conventional turreted tank to an assault gun, but the change was not entirely detrimental to Aldis's perspective. The removal of the turret in favor of a fixed, domed superstructure simplified manufacturing and accelerated production of the Demolisher-HGR. The change necessitated a reappraisal of tactics for the Demolisher-HGR. It couldn't be deployed as a conventional tank; due care had to be taken for the limited arc of its monstrous primary weaponry.
==Variants:== The Kuritan variant of the Demolisher HGR trades a ton of ammo for a C3 slave; command variants use a pair of conventional gauss rifles and carry a ton more armor.
==Deployment== The Demolisher HGR was first fielded in 3069 by the Federated Suns and used to devastating effect in urban combat on New Avalon...so long as it could ambush its victims properly. The Word of Blake's methodical use of Battle Armor made effective ambushes rare. Elsewhere, platoons of Demolisher HGRs significantly stiffened the backbone of conventional armored battalions. With a substantial punch to moderate ranges and adequate long-ranged firepower, the Demolisher HGR was (ironically) fairly useful in open field combat if the opposing force did not close to very short ranges where turrets were critical. Demolisher HGRs became emblematic of the all-or-nothing nature of the Jihad: damn the turrets, damn the finesse, just smash the foes with BFGs. Used intelligently, they could do just that.

I like it! It's got it's weaknesses, but there's no way I would want to be downrange of one.

Both versions have their use...with dummy equipment in the turret it could still look like the normal Demolisher and then BOOM then the turth comes into light...
