Primary Factory: Unknown Communications System: Sipher Security Plus with Angel ECM Suite Targeting and Tracking System: Winston Sidewinder with TAG
Overview: The Lighting Bird LAM Battlemech is among the last of its kind. Built around a sleek, angular design, this newly built mecha is designed around target designation and extended mission profiles with its all energy weapon and heavy sensor package design. Armoring the fast medium mech are 10 tons of rugged Ferro Fib. Armor, allowing the mech to soak a significant amount of damage. Reach is given to this LAM with the Clan ER PPC it has, though this is also the only main gun of the design. Secondary weapons consist of a set of small ER lasers and dual machine gun pods. 12 clan double heat sinks provide a remarkable heat curve, allowing the mech to be both in ‘flight’ mode and keep its PPC in play during combat. Recently pressed into combat near the Terra sector, the still prototype units that were deployed there against invading WOB forces successfully defended several outposts long enough for heavier reinforcements to arrive. In the aftermath, a Clan council within the Sphere looked to the design and a limited production of these sensor heavy units are starting to make an appearance on the battlefield. Overall while the units weapons may be limited, the capacity incorporated into it along with the armor and sensor ability make the design viable in strike and stealth missions. Engine performance is powerful, the core capable of meeting the energy requirements, though several occasions of the engine cutting out at high combat speeds; the occurrence may be related to the light engine’s power transference systems being slightly under the optimum levels needed for a LAM design but this has not stopped production yet.
Capabilities: Strike mecha. Long range sensor scout.
Deployment: 16 units.- 4 lances.
Battle History: WOB incursion. Clan test trials.
