Overview:
Few know of the existence of the BMR-99 Boomer. It was concieved in 2665 by Technicron Manufacturing along with the AWS-8Q Awesome and both designs were summited to the Star league which favorer more insterest in the AWS-8Q. The BMR-99 plans were shelved for nearly two decades when Techricron revived the design and began a limited production run, with sources indicating between 200 and 350 units constructed. Production ended in 2693 for unknown reasons, possibly the Boomer line was decomissioned and retooled for Awesome production when demand increased.

Capabilities:
The Boomer is a moble missle support platform, capable of launching up to 55 missles at long range. Like the Awesome, it's designed for long range combat against opposing mechs. One salvo can heavy damage an enemy before they can bring their weapons to bear.
Two LRM-20 racks situatied in the torso and and one LRM-15 rack located on the right shoulder provide long range punch. Each is supplired two tons of ammuntion. For close in work, a small laser in the head and SRM-4 on the opposing limb round out it's short range weaponry. Additionally, it's large fists and heavy legs, the bigest every constructed on the a mech at the time, can turn most light and medium mechs to scrap.
The Boomer does have a few flaws. Like it's younger brother, it's slow speed hampers its ability to in a running battle, most other unit's can run outside the unit's missle range before it can bring them to bear. The biggest problem was it's limited ammo supply. The enemy most often ignored a Boomer when it ran out of ammo. And because of it's slow speed, it was offten ignored by the enemy while it's lancemates were targeted for destruction first.

Variants:
This Kurita variant, BRM-103 KA Boomer features upgrades of the old design incorporating different missle systems to enchance the old design. An LRM-20 with Artemis replaces the old launcher on the left arm. The SRM is upgraded to a Streak-6. One MRM-30 and 8 Rocket-10 Launchers replacing both torso racks.

8 crits, 4 tons for 80 missiles...I don't know, I'd be tempted to go with a more reusable launcher on something as valuable as an assault mech. (Of course, that one time weight-to-damage ratio is hard to beat). Perhaps an upgrade to an MRM 40 - you've got excess heat capacity, not counting the RLs.

Otherwise, excellent mech, and excellent fluff. I'm usually all for standardized weapons, but the mix of missile launchers is interesting.

2665... Rocket Launchers...

I thought they came out much later than that... Like say 400 years.

Well, given the RLs were inspired by 20th Century single shot shot rocket launchers, you could argue they'd be fine in 2665.

However, the original Boomer was released in 2665 with a very different weapons array from this model (according to the fluff). It had something like twin LRM 20s...here:

"Two LRM-20 racks situatied in the torso and and one LRM-15 rack located on the right shoulder provide long range punch. Each is supplired two tons of ammuntion. For close in work, a small laser in the head and SRM-4 on the opposing limb round out it's short range weaponry. Additionally, it's large fists and heavy legs, the bigest every constructed on the a mech at the time, can turn most light and medium mechs to scrap."

That's the 2665 version. There's a listed Kurita variant, apparently c3050, that includes the RLs.

Sorry, my bad. I always forget to change the era. Here's the original 3025 era design. The BMR-100 KA Boomer (KA-boom- A funny twist on the name) is a Kurita 3062ish era variant.

Interesting mech, but again it seems wasteful since the RLs are one shot usage in the game. You would be better off with OS Streaks.
