Primary Factory: Perdition Communications System: Sony MSF-21 with Angel ECM Suite Targeting and Tracking System: Unknown
Overview: The 'mech known as the Hell rider, has a strange and slightly disturbing history. Originally a Firestarter mech, claimed by clan salvage after a bloody battle, it underwent a complete overhaul; small pulse lasers, SRM capabilities and even advanced clan armor and sensor systems going into the mech as it was intended for infiltration duties. While this is not unique, what happens afterwards is. Design wise the mech’s armor pattering is sharp angles and curves; the arms and legs looking as if they are carrying row after row of sharply angled spikes, the torso given sharp definition and corners, the head itself redesigned into a horned swept back pattern. During the refit/rebuild, one of the clan techs was slain when one of the ‘deactivated’ flame throwers ignited, incinerating the gantry and the tech along with it.. Examination however showed the fuel bay for the flame throwers to be completely empty. The mech itself was then taken apart system by system, checked and put back together, the strange incident chalked up to some kind of computer error when the weapons were originally checked out. When fitting the jump jets into the back torso sections, one of the hanger workers reported finding what appeared to be a scrawling in some kind of red paint on the inside of the housing that said 'Die Clanner' when concerned personnel went to examine it, the housing appeared to be clean. Work resumed. Once the build was completed, the machine was housed in a ‘yard with other units, awaiting final tests. Due to the sensor rebuild the mech had both eyes and a mouth of sorts and one crewer said she felt the machine was watching at night and claims to have seen its head move. A few months later as the machine was slated for tests, all went fine, the pervious problems apparently taken care of as IS parts were switched out for more advanced clan systems, the mech little resembling the one it once was, this however was not the case, during a simulated test run, the machines flame throwers again activated, igniting and though they did no damage to the Fenris the mech was sparring with; it gave rise to the thoughts that perhaps the machine was haunted, which of course was quickly joked off. [HARD RETURN]During a secondary test the chosen pilot said he had noticed a unusual smell in the air, like that of blood and a low pitched sound in the headset during systems testing. A complete check of the cockpit followed, with nothing being found. A few months pass with the mech waiting its projected mission; during this another tech was found dead inside the cockpit itself, apparently shocked to death by some 'inferior' IS components still inside the mech, by now word had spread about the 'devil' mech being dangerous, Khan of course, chose to ignore this; the mech being sent core ward along with several dropships towards a launching stage. At this moment in time the mech somehow vanished, even the pilot has gone missing once the dropship made planet fall, the mech and ‘warrior could not be found anywhere on the planet. While the mech’s location and status is unknown, several of the tech’s and field workers back in clanspace have reported hearing 'static' on headsets now and then, and occasional sounds of hefty mech footfalls inside the empty hanger slot where the machine was stationed. As of this date, components from the original mech, used on second line units, have all been destroyed, the mechs failing at some key point in combat for no apparent reason; each and every pilot who used the machine killed even when the damage to the Battlemech was not fatal.
