==Overview:==
The HT-1R is a scaled down version of an old warhorse the Warhammer. It
matches much of the original weapon configuration and manages to shave off
nearly 20 tons.

==Capabilities:==
Able to fire all of its weapons without overheating, the Hatchet would have
sounded too good to be true to a Mechwarrior nearly 50 years ago.

Spurred by the success of the Warhammer II, StarCorp looked into designing a
lighter, cheaper Warhammer III. A number of considerations, mostly of a
public relations nature resulted in a renaming of the mech into the Hatchet.

Designed to destroy light and medium mechs in combat, the Hatchet matches the
main configuration of the Warhammer, though the SRM had to be downgraded a
step and it lacks the small lasers and machineguns.

The Hatchet shares many parts with the Warhammer and by using old surplus
Donal PPC's and Martell lasers, StarCorp has been able to slash prices
considerably. Initial sales have been excellent. Many orders originate from
the Periphery, where more advanced technological parts are rare at best.

==Variants:==
The only variant being considered at the moment installs a light engine,
allowing the Hatchet to mount the full complement of weapons seen on the
standard Warhammer.

Overview:

Hello Karsten, I just got this off the Comstar News, apparently StarCorp did more than just improve the old 'Hammer.

"For more than 4 centuries, one mech dominated the battlefield. The most famous design, known throughout the Inner Sphere : the Warhammer. After 4 centuries of unabated success, Starcorp is proud to announce the most exciting development since the Battlemech was created, the Warhammer II. 4 Centuries in the making, doing what nobody else thought possible and pushing back the limits of Battlemech design, comes the newest and most powerful Assault mech to date."

From what I undertand, they took their lead from the Marauder II and Mad Cat II versions.

Capabilities:
"Pilots across the Inner Sphere grew up to fear the Warhammer as it could destroy anything that crossed its path, even assault mechs would tread carefully when a Warhammer was near and even the Clans have learned to respect it in the hands of dedicated pilots such as the regretted Natasha Kerensky. The new Warhammer II is an exciting new development of a trusted design. The twin PPC's that made the Warhammer's fearsome reputation have been retained and upgraded to ER PPC's with increased range, but at no increase in weight so StarCorp's engineering team could install a pair of Rotary Autocannons, revolutionary new weapons that dramatically increase the Warhammer II's firepower, these highly flexible weapons are suited for use against almost any target, Mechs, Infantry, Powered armour, Vehicles and even Aircraft. Rounding out the armament is a pair of Medium Pulse Lasers and an ER Medium Laser. All of which combined give the Warhammer II unmatched firepower."

Looks like it packs a solid punch, but I doubt their claims about it being the ultimate fighting machine.

"The Warhammer II is a vastly improved design, with the familiarity, reliability and combat worthiness of the old, brought to a new level. Truly a machine for the 3070's."

I wonder how it would fare against the Clan Warhammer ?
