Level one, its far easier for a level one to advance than for a level two. Mainly for entrance fees and the like that the FL has to pay.... instead of that money being wasted it can be transfered to you and not go to waste.... also its alot easier for a level 1 to get to 2 than it is for a level 2 to get to 3. and you hold the record for starting the most threads in under 24 hours xD

As an FL, My opinion is noobs need to stay on noob isle until they are close to being kicked off. so at least level 3. you need the time on the somewhat protected noob isle to discover the rudimentary workings of neveron. Personally, except for a rare case I will not accept anything lower than a third level unless they are well versed in Neveron
Eddy, the monies involved between accepting a level 1 and a level 3 are so small comparsion in the big picture of FL accounting, it is not even worth looking at. Conversely, accepting a level one who in a matter of days loses a conflict and drops to lv 0 and auto-boots out of the faction is a simple waste of resources no FL can continue

kjun stay on noob island untill you get your groove in combat. goto the ffa at your lvl its almost free. use the arena simulater its free and will give you practice. this game has a steep learning curve and take alot of rl time to do anything its not mechwarrior 4.

Ya you can still be in a faction at lvl 1 and still be on noob island although very rare, you still technically can learn the mechanics of the game with the benefit of faction advice and yes the monies are miniscule? dont actually know the costs how much for 1s 2s and 3s because anything over 500k is not miniscule for a lvl 1-3 in fact thats 2 nev days income. and ya cbt i quit this game like 5 times because i couldnt make time for it xD

it does not cost the slo empire to join a faction. That cost is borne by the FL.
most factions do however, have a faction tax

Prefered level really depends on what a faction is trying to do at the moment. For a newly created faction you can expect to get in as a level 4-8 without many problems.
For a faction trying to grow quickly, level 1 is what you want. Low level empires grow quickly and you can fit a ton of them in, so that when people inevitably quit you still have a lot of new members.
If a faction intends to war it tends to want empires over level 4 (or even over level 5) as that makes it harder to surrender empires, and you can always hire a couple mercs to deal with enemy low level empires, within reason.
Of course, this is all in my experience.
