==Overview:==
The Mammut HQ vehicle was developed by the Lyrian Alliance during the Fed Com
civil war for high ranking field commanders.

Extremely well-protected, it allows commanders to move close to the action
without fear of being attacked by headhunter teams.

==Capabilities:==
When it was discovered that command-rank casualties had gone up a staggering
700% in the last tweny years, Marshall Nondi Steiner requested the creation of
a command vehicle that offered maximum protection for commanders should they
be singled out for attack.

Since only a limited numbers of such vehicles would be required, technical
limitations and cost were considered secondary.

An advanced HQ was mounted on a 90 ton chassis, powered by an XL engine,
allowing it to move swiftly, despite mounting some 25 tons of advanced heavy
Ferro Fibrous armour plate. As a result the Mammut is believed to be able to
survive an Alpha strike from any known assault Battlemech.

Most of its systems are defensive in nature, since the Mammut is meant to be
escorted by a full complement of tanks and mechs who provide the active
firepower. Able to move up to 64 kph, the Mammut can maneuver itself out of
trouble if required.using its grenade launchers to lay down smoke to cover its
retreat. The exterior of the tank is very smooth and offers little or nothing
for assaulting battlearmour to hold on to.

Should an enemy attack the Mammut, it can defend itself with a single medium
laser mounted in the front or the three Small ER Lasers covering the flanks
and rear. As a command vehicle it would be in direct contact with artillery
and its TAG allows it to guide in heavy defensive fire.

Great care was taken to ensure the command personnel have the greatest chance
of survival. A full squad of elite infantry is on hand as a last ditch
defense, and the Mammut has an extensive armoury featuring Gyrojet rifles,
Blasers and SRM launchers. Each personnel station is equipped with a
Sternsnacht pistol. Attacking battlearmour could get a nasty surprise if they
tried to break into the Mammut facing nearly a dozen heavily armed soldiers
and crew.

The cargo hold has extra rations and allows the crew to survive for weeks if
necessary. The tanks is also fully protected against NBC weapons and EMP
strikes and could survive a nearby nuclear strike.


==Variants:==
An export variant is currently being tested. It mounts a regular HQ bay, but
runs on a standard ICE engine, cutting the speed to half that of the Fusion
powered version.

It also lacks the infantry squad and only mounts a pair of defensive
machineguns.



==Deployment==
The Mammut is assigned to commanders of the rank of General and higher. Most
have an attached mixed company of tanks, Mechs and infantry to protect them

Nice - it's actually fast enough to move around at a relatively safe speed, and it can outrun most other designs in it's weight range. I would recommend swapping out some of the weaponry (or armour) for a bit of LR fire-power - maybe two LRM5 racks for a little fire support to the front-lines?

Other than that, it looks quite impressive. I do not know what look you had in mind, but I keep on picturing this rounded, tortoise-like design, almost like the Bulwark Battlecruiser from Star Wars (Google it for a picture of you like).
