In BSG, ship-to-ship combat is not for nancies. Nukes are flying everywhere, space between you and the other guy is filled with tracers, flak, and solid shells, and there are no technobabble shields to protect you. You get hit, it hurts, and it vents your shit into space.

Similar, in many ways then, to AeroTech. After about five hours of cursing while I re-learned how to operate Excel, I present for your mockery BattleTech stats for the BattleStar, Mercury-Class, and Vipers II and VII.

It could work.

Kind of.

I'm still fiddling with the Cylon vessels and Raptors.

This BattleStar is the un-named, obsolete class that Galactica belongs to.

Vessel mass was arbitrarily set at 1,250K tons to allow the Mercury-Class to be built at 2.5 million tons, which is the heaviest BT WarShips can mass.

Armament decisions were based on the BSG Wiki, which notes the vessel carries
12 missile launchers, 24 capital kinetic weapons, and 506 point-defence
weapons.

As Killer Whales are the largest ship-to-ship missiles available, I arbitrarily
equipped the vessel with them. N-A/C-10s were selected as the Capital armament
based solely on the fact that Galactica does not appear to use any particularly
large weapons. LB, Rotary, and AMS systems were equipped to reflect Galactica's use of flak volleys, high rate-of-fire, and anti-missile capabilities.

Since there's no mention I've seen as to what Galactica's component of Vipers and Raptors would be at full strength, I assigned four squadrons of twelve Vipers each plus a squadron of twelve Raptors to each flight bay, for a total of 120 fighter craft on board.

With an SI of 100 and 2.5K tons worth of armour, BattleStars are pretty much
impervious to damage. On the other hand, their extremely limited capital
weapons (especially compared to BT WarShips) means the vessel could quite
easily go down to a Fredesa Corvette. I really reccommend you don't mix the two games.

In the series, however, Galactica just seems to waddle on up to whatever it's fighting, spamming away with its weapons, and then just disgorges its Viper complement on top of the unsuspecting. With the huge armour rating and SI this thing has, you should be able to emulate that fairly well.

Finally, BT rules require full charge of the Drive (taking about two weeks) between Jumps, and use the Jump Sail to charge up. Obviously these elements are entirely different to BSG, but are artefacts of the BT design system. Since the Jump Drive would have mass any way and the sail's mass is really negligible, I just left things as-is.

Bay 3: Cargo (238,358 tons), 2 Doors

Notes: Each Ammo Type is bunkered with CASE. Armour is Lamellor Ferro-Carbide.

Pretty much everything here was geared at making something that was twice as nasty as Galactica's class. As Pegasus appeared to have major capital batteries housed in its prow, I equipped her with the ultimate big boy's toy- Naval Forties. Ker-Boom, indeed.

A Mercury could probably try it on against a BT WarShip, if only by dint of its suitably ridiculous armour rating and fighter squadrons. It could probably wear a Sovetskii Soyuz as a hat, but taking it up against a McKenna would be a dopey move at best.

VIPER MARK II
Mass: 35 Tons
Power Plant: 210 Fusion
SI: 8
Cruising Speed: 8
Maximum Speed: 12
Armament: 2 Rotary AutoCannon-2s, 90 Rounds Each
Weapon Distribution: 1 per Wing.
Fuel: 3 Tons (240 Points)
Armour: 3 tons of Ferro-Aluminium
Nose: 18
Wings: 12
Rear: 6

Fast, and with the R-A/Cs, capable of ripping an enemy up. I plan to build the Cylon Raiders with Class 5 cannons, which is why the armour looks like it does.

Also, it HOONS.

VIPER MARK VII
Mass: 50 Tons
Power Plant: 300 XL
Cruising Speed: 8
Maximum Speed: 12
Armament: 3 R-A/C-2s, 90 Rounds Each
Weapon Distribution: 1 Nose, 1 per Wing.
Fuel: 3 (240 Points)
Armour: 4.5 tons of Improved Ferro-Carbide
Nose: 28
Wings: 22
Rear: 9

Well, that was friggin' irritating. In order to match the Mark II's speed, improve the weapons package and dial up the armour a little, I had to make the Mark VII "weigh" as much as a Raptor should. Suck.

RAPTOR

I think Raptors might have to be abstracted. In BT rules, ASFs cannot mount EW gear, nor can they mount FTL drives. I'll fiddle around for a while and see what comes up, then get back to you.
Yea, verily. Let it be known far and wide that Nightward loathes MW: DA. Indeed, it is with the BURNING ANIMUS OF A THOUSAND SUNS that he doth rage against it with.

morgue digging I see.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.

I was a Major *pain* before
But I got a promotion.
I am now a General *pain*
Yay for promotions!!!

One of the funnier things is that the Battlestar Prometheus fanfic very heavily "borrows" from BT (Comstar, NAC's, HPG etc ...) Interesting to see it come round now.
