... (gaming / forums) history tends to repeat itself.
I spent some time at the Invas..., sorry, I mean "that other game"['s]  forums pages ( http://www.invasion3042.com/forums/ ).
While browsing through some threads at "that other game"['s] forums I noticed a couple of strange déjà-vu feelings.
Looks like the 'fan boy' crowd is still going strong at "that other game"['s] forums - just like it used to be at sarna.net back when Nev was young and the future of Nev and its admins looked promising.
Basically every time someone dares to criticize the creator / admin of "that other game" - or a specific part of "that other game"['s] design -, at "that other game"['s] forums['s] a loyal 'fan boy' shows up and starts defending his idol / icon / game, which kind of reminds me of the good old days at sarna, you know, back when Kitfox - and Mattbuck as well -, used to be loyal admin 'fan boys'  .
In addition it looks like the 'source of all man-made evil' (AKA the money, SCNR  ) already started to infect / infiltrate the minds and or the dreams / visions of the people at "that other game" too.
For your information, we call our official admin-controlled (and -sold) magic, Donation Points (DPs), people playing "that other game" call their official admin-controlled (and -sold) magic, I-Points (IPs).
Different names but pretty much the very same basic concept - and pretty much the same intoxicating side effects to be feared in the long run, like people starting to take things way too seriously - at least if you are thinking about playing a (war) 'game' -, particularly if something - or somebody -, endangers their - more or less massive -, DP / IP 'investment'.
Sigh, you know, the old story, if there is way too much real life money involved / 'invested', then even a (war) 'game' starts losing its innocence - and soon all that is left is people defending their virtual assets - by all means -, if necessary ...
BTW, looks like 'inflation', errr, sorry, we better call it an official price increase, errr, sorry, I mean price 'adjustment', just struck "that other game", because the price for the introduction and implementation of a new custom Mech design at "that other game" just doubled (old price 250 AUD, new price 500 AUD).
Any nev-related déjà-vu feelings regarding Mech price adjustments ?
Plus it looks like yet another man-made / player-made 'plague': 'munchkinism' - and maybe a general 'win at all costs'-attitude too, already managed to find a way to migrate to "that other game"  .
Just take a look at the 'Anti-Munchkin-Comittee' thread located at "that other game"['s] forums.
Why talk about forming a 'Anti-Munchkin-Comittee' if there is no real need to deal with munchkinism, be it now or in the near future?
Welcome to "that other game" - and welcome to the same - or at least pretty similar -, problems as well ...

You can't realy make a "better" community if the same people stick together in both sides. Add people who start defensive threads as soon as someone dares to say anything against these blocks and you have the same crap all over again

I don't think that it was questioned that they do a much better job than wayward atm. The Dev/User Communication is pretty good actually.

Way to go NSN, firstly you posted this in the wrong forums, shouldnt it be on the invasion forums?
Secondly way to paraphrase about 100 posts on about 5 different topics.
Perhaps you can add a stat like, The invasion forums have had more posts in one day than sarna has had in a month?
That in Invasion they have at least 1 admin active in the chat room pretty much 24x7 ?

a shit playerbase is a shit playerbase, no matter what game they want to say they love.
Neveron's playerbase has been complete and utter suck for a good long while now and, surprise, most of that playerbase went to the other game!
Does anyone actually believe that things won't go exactly the same as it did in neveron when it comes to the players?
It's why I stopped playing it.
I don't want to play another Neveron, even if it has a new name and new owners. I'm not that much of a masochist.

Though I no longer play this game, I do out of curiosity read the forums from time to time. I'd like to make a few comments on these ill informed opinions of Invasion 3042 and its community.
Yes there are occasionally flare ups between players there, much like here. However they generally end reasonably quickly.
Players that hated eachother here get along remarkably well in main chat over there. Some of them may individually be "assholes", and many would likely peg me with that title as well, but that hasn't stopped people from enjoying the game and the community.
I was a long long standing detractor of Neveron's community. However my opinion has changed. It's Randy and Wayward's fault, not yours. Players here began tearing eachothers' throats out because of the realities and pains of the game, not because Neveron somehow managed to attract the most bitterly antisocial people in the world.
Invasion 3042 players are normal. And you that are still here are normal too. It's the behavior that the games themselves elicit that is different.
The more time I have spent away from Neveron, and its something like 3 or 4 months now I think, the more I realize that most of the players I hated, and that hated me, aren't all that bad. It's Neveron and the way it forced us to ruin eachother that is bad.
I believe this because by and large I see these players, the ones that migrated, in a different light. The hate that was directly transplanted from this community has slowly over time dissipated. It still exists, yes, but to a much smaller degree and getting smaller by the month.
It's been like detox. And its working.
Nobody monitors these forums anymore so I don't feel any danger in saying Neveron is the ill that has afflicted its own community. It's not your fault.
I hope you all garner what enjoyment you can from the game while it is still around, sincerely. And I hope that if the time comes, those of you that would still like to play a web cbt game give Invasion another shot.

You miss the point, cbtgod. Jerks from neveron that transplant to Invasion 3042 are becoming less so by the week.
Neveron is a massive fraud/sham being perpetrated on those that still play it, and game systems that exist only to ensure your misery and to outright deny good gamesmanship make otherwise normal human beings act like vindictive cornered animals here.
A small number of assholes on neveron are probably assholes IRL, but most of them have over time become the way they are thanks to a bullshit game, its bullshit owners, bullshit design and just plain bullshit.
Neveron is a cancer on the entire online CBT community and the sooner it dies the better off we will all be.
Randy and Wayward should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for the terrible open sore they have inflicted upon this once cohesive community.
But of course they don't give a shit, never have and never will.

I personally, have had two totally different gaming experiences, that of Neveron which to be honest i wish i didnt, and that of Invasion 3042, where the chat room ive found to be pretty cool, and of course my help tickets which get answered within a day at the longest.

What if at least some of the now disappointed / disgruntled / frustrated players / victims of circumstances from the latest Rasalhague incident at "that other game" decide to migrate back (home?) to Neveron ?
Coming soon? A new faction at Neveron for all the disappointed Rasalhague refugees from "that other game", e.g. named "Free Rasalhague Republic (Invasion 3042, Refugee Camp)" ?

In the other game if you are killed off you go to a nice safe place to rebuild without threat of continual attack and then you can rejoin again when you think your ready..... I should know its happend to me already.
Honestly i think all invasion players have at least tried neveron before and have left.

You hate Neveron. I mean really hate it. I love Neveron but hate what has happened to it. You hate Neveron.
And you hate Invasion 3042 despite having never really been a player.
You sure do spend a lot of time and energy decrying two games that you apparently hate. So why bother?
Why don't you find a new home? It's obvious that you aren't happy here, there, or anywhere that shares our common playerbase.
I'd recommend you leave and find a place to exist that is more in tune with your interests.

lol, I was googling some BT stuff and came across Sarna. Decided to check in and see what was new.
Absolutely nothing...
I see the same people being the same negative people they were when I was still playing. I am now a player in Invasions3042. The game is a breath of fresh air. Its a PvP game, so there will definitely be some tensions; but nothing like Neveron.
I think the greatest form of flattery is that the Neveron community (that is trying desperately to hold on to a dying and mismanaged game) is talking about Invasion3042.
Kudos... I hope to see you all in this new game; you may just be surprised at how well it is done.

I personally prefer Nev, but i gotta say, Invasion has some bonuses, like, OMG water hexes! Have you played and used the combat map on invasion, Nev is like playing on a Atari 2600.
If you CBTgod had a choice what would you pick? the ability to pick the skills you want your force at, and have it stay there? or have it random and then degrade over a very short period?

Err CBTgod, the maint system is quite good. It represents the cost in continual training increasing. The better a pilot is the more time he needs and the better facilities he needs to maintain his level of prowess. I also agree with Bingo, i would prefer to fight against other mechs in similar numbers rather than vehicle hoardes. I have said this on here before and have suggested a system where once a war is declared no commisioning is allowed. There are flaws with this that would have to be addressed of course.

Neveron needs to be put out of its misery. Shut it down. It's antiquated, and even if it was resotred to the system of its hay day minus crippling lag and hundreds of bugs it wouldn't have enough of an audience to make it worth the effort. WWS, Randy, and anyone else reading these forums knows what the players want fixed. Shut down Neveron v1, spend six months to a year creating Neveron v2. By that time hopefully a lot of the negativity will come out of people. Updae the graphics, make Nev. look like a 2008 game. Relaunch with a subscription service once the game is what it should be and not before. Otherwise just kill it, its a disgrace.
