Adam, Trust me when I say this. MB has all the resources you'll ever need to build a strong empire. I use his BV calculator religiously. Not to mention, his "How to cope with Peel" and "Pball" pages will leave you gasping for air from laughing so much.

yeah matt the math man has got alot of usefull stuff done for neveron players. check out the research tree prog hes working on and or done with.

Only two ways to 'fix' OMT...
1] Add Civ Pop [Residentials]
2] Reduce BV [scrap, decommision, stable or kill units]
Matt also has a bott in chat that has OMT features.
You can also refer to the Neveron OMT calc.
The trick to the OMT calc is that only your Civ Pop changes are updated immediately [ie, if you burn a city, that will update your Civ Pop immmediately]
Any changes to your BV tho, the OMT calc, as it is currently coded, will only update every 'X' hours. That time span should be listed along the top of the OMT calc page. I think the larger the empire, the less frequently your OMT BV will update. Smaller empires can update as often as every few hours, where larger empires might only update every day or two.

The formula to get exactly how much sp you can support.
Code:
*CP=Civilian Population *SPCutoff = how much SP you can have before OMT kicks in. If CP > 250,000 Then SPCutoff = INT(CP/100) If CP <= 250,000 Then SPCutoff = INT(CP/ (50 + (CP / 250,000) * 50)) If SPCutoff < 20 Then SPCutoff = 20
- You can't have a SPCutoff of less than than 20.
- You get between 1 sp for every 50 population to 1 sp per ever 100 population.
- As your population grows, the amount of pop needed per SP grows also, until 250,000 citizens.
- If you have more than 250,000 population then the SPcutoff is population / 100.
And in case your interested here is the OMT formula. Code:
*SP=Total Suppport Points for all units. If SP > SPCutoff Then OMTNum = 500 * (SP - SPCutoff) * (3 * SP / SPCutoff) If SP <= SPCutoff Then OMTNum = 0
