Arena Help [all Battle Maps]
      #150847 - 06/10/08 02:23 PM (74.74.248.205)

The title of this thread is 'Arena Help', but most of this info applies to ANY battle screens that you may use in Neveron. Areans, in this case, would include Arenas [also known as Duels], Arena Simualtor, Tournies [also known as Free for All {FFA}], Quests, Raids and of course full blown Declarations of War [DoW].

This is a link to the Help page that you can see while in battle. I have found it nearly impossible to try and read this page while actually in battle. Even if I managed to get it open in a seperate window, it would simply refresh at the end of every phase [Move or Attack], and I would lose my place and have to start all over.

Being able to read thru most of this info BEFORE you enter a war I think will prove to be very useful, especially to the newer players of Neveron, along with the players who have never even heard of BattleTech table top games [Neveron is styled after it].

This page Im sure is very old, and in some cases may actually contain outdated information. So use the information here with a bit of common sense. If you are a newer player and are uncertain if something is still current, please come to Irc chat, and join #Neveron_Newbies and ask your questions there for live help.

Arena Help

More specific chapters within this Help page are also listed below. You can also simply click any blue colored topic in the left menu from the above link. Not sure why the images are not loading properly from this page, but again, feel free to stop into chat if something is not clear after reading thru it.

Technical Help

System Requirements

It has been suggested that setting Neveron to a 'Trusted' site is no longer needed. However, if you are still having difficulties making things work right, try this step anyhow.

Along with the information provided on this Arena Help page, you can also refer to this "Technical Settings" page from the Noobie Tutorial. This link offers example pictures, as well as some additional information not found in the Arena Help section.

You can also access "Screen Resolution Problems" from the Help system in the game, under troubleshooting.

Arena Overview

Arena Concept

First of all, Arenas, as discussed here, are no longer an option. There are still Arena / Duels, but they work a bit differently as far as making them and such. The basic movements of units once actually with in them are still pretty much the same tho.

Another obvious change here is that you no longer start with Infantry units [Infantry are currently disabled]. You in fact start with 4 "Newbie Jeeps". The first set of soldiers are already 'Commisioned' into thier respective units and ready to go. These are special units in the sense that they have basic sensors installed on them, not normally found on JEP-MG units. Should you decommission these Newbie Jeeps, the sensors will disappear, and you will find regular JEP-MG units in your armory.

The skills of these new soldiers are 4/4/4/4/4, and you will find one soldier at 3/3/3/3/3. After you can purchase 'better' units [Vehicles or Mechs], you may want to remove these soldiers from thier Newbie Jeeps and place them in the new units. Any time a unit is decommissioned tho, it will lose 1 skill point from the active skill in use in that unit. So for example, the 4/4/4/4/4 soldier who is removed from the noobie jeep, will change to 4/5/5/4/4. Notice only the Driver and Vehicle Weapons skills dropped. If you have a mech to place that soldier into, he still has 4/4 mech skills to start with. If that soldier needs to go into a tank, then a 5/5 HNT-0A [Hunter] is still likely a better unit than a 4/4 JEP-MG. Its advisable to keep at least 1 Newbie Jeep until you have bought a new unit with some sort of sensors on it to take out with all your other new units.

Your starting cash should also be at $5 Million, not the $3 Million mentioned. Once you complete the Quest, found under the Comms tab, you will earn an additional $5 Million.

NOTE: Promo Codes

You can also earn an additional $10 Million by using a promo code when you create a new login. The $10 Million is awarded to the first empire that you create on that login. Promo codes can be obtained from other players here in the forums or in chat. Many players will include a promo code in thier 'signatures' here on the forums. Make sure to take full advantage of this promo code. Every promo code is attached to another players login. By using thier promo code, your empire will be automatically granted a Diplomatic Realtions Treaty with thier largest empire on thier login. This allows you to use the Neveron Mail system to contact that player and ask for help and unit discounts. This player should be able to offer you some sort of Vehichles at a discount from the normal market prices. So be sure to ask about them!

Combat

This is really the part of the page I wanted to make available on the forums. Here you will find the 'rules' that Neveron uses in its BattleTech style fighting. Initiative [also called 'init'], Phases [Movement and Attack], as well as all Combat Rules [Modifiers, Critical Hits, Weapons, Range, To Hit and Damage Charts] including Physical Attacks [how they work and when].

Note: Fatigue is no longer a part of the game.

Hopefully this page has and its links have been helpful. Please feel free to send me a message if you have suggestions of things to add here or in other threads.
