Artemis IV FCS [Left Torso] (1 ton)

Cost: 8,900,401 C-Bills
Battle Value: 1488

I designed it as a cheap, rugged, reliable assault 'Mech, for garrison forces that can't afford anything more expensive/sophisticated, or to attack installations... therefore, no XL engine. I kept the PPC from the original 1H design but upgraded it to an ER PPC. MG's were exchanged for Medium Pulse Lasers. I like the heat dissipation - it can run and fire either the ER PPC and both LRM launchers (for a long range encounter) or the ER PPC and both Medium Pulse Lasers (when someone closes in) and not overheat. Ammo is only in one location - if the ammo blows, CASE will keep the 'Mech in the battle with all three energy weapons. Doesn't do too much damage, but steady damage, is cheap, and hard to kill. I also like to keep my designs as close as possible to the original design (in this case, the 3025 GOL-1H).

Hm, nice 80-tonner, especially for it's "trooper" appearance. I would, however, consider using 4 Medium lasers instead of 2 MPL's- they are just normally more effective, and DHS should allow you to go a little overboard with firing weapons.

You should also try to bump it down to 75 tons (most 80 tonners can go down that far anyway).

Problem with 4 Medium Lasers over 2 Medium Pulse Lasers is: the main threat is from fast jump capable lights or mediums, who can run into minimum LRM range... I'd much rather have pulse lasers against those for the -2 modifier since to hit a fast jumping 'Mech. And I have it at 80 tons because that's the original design, and it lets me carry more armor.

I like it, its a 'sensible' upgrade... I mean, takes the flavour of the Original and blends it up a bit. And I agree, keep it at 80 tons for that more armour... Working on variants of loadout are good, only in the fiction do they mention that you can easily change an overall tonnage value by adding or subtracting - ion the game, we're got fixed skeletons.

Just a philosophical question on this one. Wouldn't the upgrade to LRM-15's at 175,000 C-bills, have been a cheaper option than the 100,000 C-Bill and double cost of Ammo? Sure your 4 tons would then only give it the exact same number of volleys, but you'd get an extra what 80 in BV. The double cost of every reload of ammo would ultimately be the reason it wouldn't be popular with garrison forces. So at base cost it's 130,000 verses 75,000 in initial cost. So 55k per launcher or 110,000 drop in cost for about 80 points in additional BV.

Good design. You might want to create a version that drops Artemises in favor of more ammo.
Wow, those bracing maneuvers sure do come in handy when firing proximity fused precision cluster flak ammo at a Balancer LAM. Unfortunately they make my 'Mech an immobile target for that LAM. Oh well, at least I'm getting partial cover.

You two do realize it is considered bad form to reply to a thread that is several month's old, do you not?

Dude, Prince, you need to lighten up on the direct insults. That's bad form on most BT forums, if it doesn't get an outright ban.
