==Overview:==
"At first there was the sound. It was unsettling, like the terrible roar of
some primordeal monster. Worse yet, the ground shook and it felt as if the
whole city was in upheaval. Moments later I watched Kinsey in his Thor, back
away and shooting his autocannons. As I tried to move behind him I caught
sight of the Davion mech and a second later all hell broke loose ..."

==Capabilities:==
A "volcano of fire and steel" is how mechwarriors first described the awesome
firepower of the Volcanic.

Armed with four RAC-5, the Volcanic can hurl a full ton of ordinance at the
target with the potential of stripping up to five tons of armour in a single
strike. The combined effect of the four six-barelled 100mm guns looks
especially spectacular at night, generating muzzle flashes nearly 20 meters
long.

With only 14.5 tons of armour the Volcanic's armour is considered low, though
Randam Mechwerk representaives retorted that a single well aimed volley would
more that even up the score. Another potential weakness is the secondary
armament of twin medium lasers.

==Variants:==
The original Volcanic mounted the RAC's in the arms, but the massive recoil
nearly tore them off, so two of the guns were mounted in the torso's.

There are no known variants, except a prototype, which mounts a Heavy PPC, a
medium pulse laser and extra ammo.

10 tons of ammo and not CASE? ... Seriously?

I have never liked the AC-5, in any configuration. And the ultra/ rotary multi fire rates are just that much worse.

But if you must insist... I offer the following modifications to make this a bit less sucky.

First, CASE both side torso's and move all the ammo to each side torso. CASE + R-AC + ammo(5) = 12 slots. To save weight for the CASE, lose 1 heat sink, its really not needed and takes up 3 crits that you don't really need to.

To save the space for the ammo/ CASE, lose the light fusion and just go with a standard. 4.5 tons saved don't really justify the space and vulerability that the light fusion engine costs. And speaking of cost... it is more pricy too. To save the weight for this move you are going to have to use Endo-steel and also lose 1 ton of ammo (running out of crit space). This saves 1.5 tons to add to the armor base.

Move the Med. lasers to the CT so if worse comes to worse you still have something to shoot with if you lose both side torsos.
Net gain = 1.5 tons armor, ammo protected by case, less vulerablity of engine crits in side torso, smaller price tag.
Net loss = 1 heat sink, 1 ton of ammo.

If nothing else... add the CASE... please for the love of god.. and move the ammo out of the CT. Thru crit CT to ammo always sucks.

hope this helps

I had passed over this one, mostly because a RAC-5 boat didn't interest me, and it looked like it might blow up pretty easy. But Dester, I'm glad you didn't pass over it! This was an thourough and educational rework.
