Constable CST-2A
Overview:
The loss of the Orguss Industries Urbanmech factory was barley noticed as the succession wars raged on. With no new Urbanmechs being produced, this left planetary governments and militias to either scrounge up used Urbanmechs, use other light units that were not as suited to the urban environment, or purchase more expensive heavier equipment. Thus when Blue Moon Industries started producing the Constable CST-2A 2976, it was received with welcome arms.
Capabilities:
At only 20 tons the Constable is at the bottom of the weight class for battlemechs, but this also makes it relatively in expensive. The Constable comes equipped with paired medium and small lasers along with two machine guns, one to each side of the chest. Though lacking a punch weapon, the Constable has respectable weaponry for the close confines of the urban environment. Both arms are fully functional allowing the Constable to perform tasks as varied as punching an enemy mech to digging thru the rubble of a building looking for survivors. Not very speedy, the Constable far out paces and out jumps the old urbanmech.
Battle History:
On the small mining world of Asontro in the periphery near the Marik Lryan boarder a brand new lance of Constables was brought in to guard the vast mineral deposits as they built up awaiting delivery off world. Pirates had been picking over the shipments with impunity and finally the locals had had enough. In typical ragtag fashion the pirates rushed the outlaying defenses and proceeded into the city proper to secure their loot. The lance of constables ambushed the leading locust and brought it down in a single volley. Now exposed the pirates began an earnest fight and quickly withdrew after they lost another locust in the winding and twisting streets. What would have been a complete victory almost turn into a rout when the constables tried to pursue and destroy the rest of the pirates. The constable pilots soon learned the error of their ways when the pirates turned in mass and quickly downed 2 mechs, losing only one more of their own before making it back to the safety of the city streets.
Variants:
The CST-1E model lacks the jump jets to add a half ton of armor and an SRM-2 tucked into the right arm. Blue Moon will construct this model on request, but does not recommend it to its customers.

Dirt cheap, relatively mobile (for a succession war era light mech, as the jets make up for it's relatively slow walking speed), well armoured, and decently armed..
Nothing bad to say, really.

I'd use it for that era.... good for forest fighting as well.
Or as a behind enemy lines mech.... a lance of these would be cheap and do a lot of damage if used effectively...
