So I just figured I'd announce the arrival of a new player (hopefully) to this game.
Also wanted to ask about the game in general. From some of the forum posts, it seems like a lot of people are leaving or are getting bored of the game. I honestly don't want to spend time learning how to play if everyone is going to drop out anyways.
Anyone wanna give me a basic overview of what's going on?

First of all, welcome to Neveron! New players are always welcome!
As for the game...it has had and will always have players coming and going for thier own reasons
the current issue with the game is that its dealing with hardware related issues with only 1 admin working on the game. in the past there was a staff of admins, with as many as 4 active at one time. Since the workload is covered by one admin, there is obviously going to be less accomplished on a daily basis.
As for learning the game and whether or not its worth your time. Neveron is either you love it or hate it. If you get hooked, you will likely play it for years. The in game help system is not very well structured. There have been attempts to create help files from the playerbase in the past. There have also been some threads posted here on the forums in an attempt to help new players as well.
The most useful type of help is getting into Irc chat. There most players have at least a general understanding of the game basics and should be helpful. If you can connect up with one of the more experienced players, they can help you will probably any question you might have.
The 'main' channel for general socializing etc is #neveron on the AfterNET network.
A channel that you can go to and ask specific help 'dumb' questions is #neveron_newbies. There are players that check in on that channel from time to time and answer whatever questions are posted in there. It might take a few minutes for someone to pop thier head in this channel, so be patient.
There are seperate Irc programs like mIrc which make using Irc a lil bit easier for daily use. go check it out at www.mirc.com

Sounds good, and thanks for the welcome. I haven't even really gotten a chance to start the game yet because of a thousand other IRL issues I have to deal with first, but as soon as I feel I can sit down and learn the game, you'll see me in chat (hopefully).
I browsed through the intro to the game and some of the forum threads, and it seems like a game I would love. I'm obsessed with battletech first of all, and while I know this isn't 100% battletech, it's close enough. I like the idea that alot of people want to RP outside of the game (aka political meetings, etc), and I think I'd enjoy that as well, even though from what I've read, some people are a bit reluctant to do so.
Anyways, hopefully you'll see me soon. Thanks again for the welcome.

Not everyone wants to roleplay - there are some people who enjoy that thing, but a lot who just want to kill stuff, or make peace, or whatever, without being Supernova Marshal Randy Stravinskiskon.

Ive found that BT fans are fanatic loyal players that always look for game somewhat like BT. as long as the format is close to it I think neveron will always have players

I have been playing neveron since 2001 and I will continue to play it. So there will be at least ONE person playing neveron until it gets its throat cut and bleeds to death.

Now this is terribly embarrassing, but I can't seem to find where I start the game >.>
I can't even find where to create an empire/profile/login.

You need to be running Internet Explorer to get the create login page. The game won't work on firefox.
