A heat ray cannon is an energy weapon that focuses light into a powerful heat ray. While not destructive like a laser, the heat ray cannon raises a target's heat level. A heat ray cannon masses 5 tons per point of heat and has the following standard scale ranges: short 1-37, medium 38-75, long 76-112, and extreme 113 to 150 (yes these ranges are longer than capital scale ranges and are equal to standard scale searchlight ranges). A heat ray cannon can shoot from a space hex through atmosphere levels to a target on a ground hex. A heat ray cannon gives off a number of heat points equal to octuple the number of heat points it does to a target. A heat ray cannon's heatlight can be reflected off reflective armor to a target. When a heat ray cannon is used against a target that has no heat level such as a vehicle/battle armor, simply remove one movement point from that target's total movement points per heat point applied. A heat ray cannon costs a number of C-Bills equal to its tonnage multiplied by 3,000 and has a BV equal to the heat it can do to a target multiplied by 56.
