==Overview:==
The Eisenregen ("Iron Rain" in Star League English) is a simple,
straightforward light LRM carrier built by a Lyran branch of General Motors.

It is relatively well protected, designed to survive several hits by Clan
medium laser weapons or one BFG, and mounts its LRM racks in a turret for
additional versatility and firing on the move. It is not particularly fast
though, powered by only a turbocharged, two-stroke GM 120 diesel to a top
speed of 54kph. This is sufficient for its support role if its commanders
deploy it wisely.

Noting that Lyran commanders tend to be selected more often for their social
connections than military ability, the Eisenregen has a number of crew
survivability features. CASE protects its limited magazine and, in fact,
pretty much isolates the center of the tank (with the turret base and
magazine) from the front (which holds the engine) and the rear (which holds
the 3 crew positions). The engine is front-mounted to provide that additional
mass between most hostile fire and the crew. Finally, the crew is provided
with top, rear, and bottom hatches for entry, escape, or simply taking a dump
without leaving the tank.

The Eisenregen has a fairly limited magazine that only provides 6 volleys for
all 8 launchers. This is in recognition of the Eisenregen's limited
battlefield durability (typical of most LRM carriers) and its intended
munition: Thunder-Augmented LRMs.

With 2 tons of Thunder-Augmented LRMs, a company of Eisenregens can blanket a
500 x 500m area (OOC: a mapboard) to double density in 1 minute. They are an
ultimate in area-denial units, optimized to spread their fire over a huge
area. Fire control systems and the electric turret motors can slew and elevate
the turret to spray missiles in a pre-programmed pattern. The communications
system is designed to coordinate the fire of even entire regiments of
Eisenregens into carefully dispersed grids of mines.

At 40 tons each, Eisenregens can be accompanied in a DropShip by several full
reloads and fuel for extended operations.
