Continued from the Various Upgraded Designs thread.
This thread examines the Inner Sphere Honor Guard's Highlander, and its use from 3050 to 3081 and beyond.
History:
After suffering heavy losses and losing Gen. Alexander (the old CO) to Clan Jade Falcon forces on Coventry, the ISHG retreated to its home in Caselton to lick its wounds. One who was hit especially hard was Michael, a Col. who has been around since the beginning in 3039. He lost his wife Hikari to the fighting, and was close to freaking out, until he saw the gloating look on John's face at the news. Michael has never fully trusted John, even while they were a part of Quentin's Independence Weaponry garrison, and has spied on John a few times with little more than speculation to prove his suspicions.
Fearing something awful when John proposed to the surviving personnel that he wanted to be the next CO, Michael went out on a limb, and elected the former CO's son, Jonas, to be the new CO. With a bit of deliberating, this became the ISHG's new reality.
Since then, Michael has been a support to Jonas, much like a foster father, and strives to relieve his daughter Eliz's stress from pushing herself too hard to compensate for the loss.
As such, Michael's philosophy on the battlefield is a supporting role, not focusing on one particular style of fighting, but being able to adapt and support the ISHG in all its endeavors. This means his Highlander is a blend of fire-support and direct long range firepower. Thus, Michael's personal HGN-1 came into being.

This design served Michael well, until 3062 when Semi-guided munitions came out, enhancing his ability to support the ISHG's use of TAG equipment. Michael exchanged out the Artemis IV for the munitions, creating his HGN-2.

This design has not undergone any major changes until the Jihad years, when the WoB conflict and emerging technology prompted Michael to upgrade his design. This resulted in Michael's HGN-3.

When the Jihad ended in 3081, the unit upgraded again with technology that builds upon the Jihad designs, resulting in very advanced designs, sporting technology such as reverse-engineered Void Sig systems, perfected Angel ECMs and CASEIIs. Below is Michael's final Highlander design, the HGN-X.

Letting Jonas' status as CO give credibility to his findings, Michael was finally able to collect enough evidence during the fighting to convict John of his conspiracies, and finally felt vindicated at seeing John being taken away to serve time for all the pain and confusion he caused.
To this day (Dark Age), Michael continues to serve the ISHG well, and proudly serves under his new and former CO.

Mainly the removal of the srm 6 launcher, switching out the srm6 ammo with equal lrm20 ammo, adding an Artemis IV, switching the ferro fibrous armor with endosteel internals, adding a TAG and C3 Slave, reallocating the ammo to the right torso, thus removing one of the CASEs, moving the jump jets in the torsos to the legs, and adding a Guardian ECM suite.

Errata: The Jade Falcon assault on Coventry was in 3058, and compact gyros came out in 3068 around the start of the Jihad. Also, while semi-guided munitions technically came out in 3057, they weren't available to the ISHG until 3062. This means Michael's "1" variant is a 3058 design, and his "3" variant is a 3068 design.
Guess I needed to check the history more.
