Continued from the Various Upgraded Designs thread.
This thread examines the Inner Sphere Honor Guard's ASF Stuka, and its use from 3040 to 3062 and beyond.
History:
Ever since forming around 3040, the ISHG always had a need for ASFs to cover the dropships to and from planets, as well as provide ground support when called upon. Before the change in leadership in 3058, the ISHG acquired and used several pre-existing variants of the Stuka thanks to the increased production of them on New Avalon during the War of 3039 and onward.
After Jonas became the new CO, he wanted his ASF's to reflect the design philosophy of the rest of his unit. With the financial and political support of his mother in congress, Jonas negotiated a deal with Lycomb IntroTech to produce a special variant of its venerable Stuka for the ISHG. This new Stuka was dubbed the STU-DX Stuka.
Code:
Stuka STU-DX (~3062) 100 tons IS TW non-box set
Movement: 5/8 Engine: 300 XL Heat Sinks: 16 [32] Fuel: 10t
Structural Integrity: 10 Armor: 349 (Ferro-Aluminum) NOS: 80 COC: 19 LWG: 80 RWG: 80 FUS: 50 ENG: 50
TAG [NOS] 0 Heat ERPPC [RWG] 15 Heat Gauss Rifle [RWG] 1 Heat ERPPC [LWG] 15 Heat Gauss Rifle [LWG] 1 Heat Medium Laser [AFT] 3 Heat
Gauss Rifle Ammo (8) [RWG] Gauss Rifle Ammo (8) [RWG] Gauss Rifle Ammo (8) [RWG] Gauss Rifle Ammo (8) [LWG] Gauss Rifle Ammo (8) [LWG] Gauss Rifle Ammo (8) [LWG]
BV: ??? Cost: 15,976,500 Cbills
Incorporating weight saving measures such as an XL engine, and Ferro-Aluminum armor, the extra weight allowed for a dramatic increase in armor. Especially after the loss of Eliz's mom Nora due to under-protected ASFs, this was a serious issue for Jonas. Using the rest of the weight to install an ERPPC and a Gauss Rifle on each of the wings (with three tons of ammo each), plus a TAG in the nose for Arrow IV and semi-guided missile units, and a rear-facing medium laser to discourage chase, the STU-DX quickly became the standard ASF for the ISHG, and continues to see use to this day (Dark Age).
How is it? And don't worry, I'm not going to do the same with the Overlords or the Invader. That's pushing it.

FYI the BATTLESPACE/AT2 forum here is normal for aersospace fighters.
Overall it looks like a decent upgrade.

Given time and plenty of paper, a philosopher can prove anything.

Ah. Thanks for that. Got too used to posting mechs.
And thanks also for your word of approval. It means a lot. Now I can get going on writing the complete synopsis of the unit.
