SM's 'tone'
      #158612 - 04/26/10 12:22 PM (209.89.3.33)

You can laugh all you want and deny what is happening, your choice.

I have also had quite a bit of "real life" experience and you have no idea what I am capable of when I am angry. You have NO CLUE who I am.

That said, I can see it coming SM, the "If you don't like it, fuck you." attitude. I have been wrong before and I may be wrong here (lets hope so), but I dont think so.

Something to think on maybe?

TRK, you have obviously missed my attempt at humor and sarcasim...

First let me clarify for you, that I was not trying to threaten you in any manner. I was making a joke about how I was NOT acting with emotion. I was refering to my temper, and how the few people [both bystanders and 'victums'] who have seen it, have commented they never want to see it again.

I have also said that I do not know who you are, so obviously, I could not begin to know what you may or may not be capable of. I have actually ASKED who you are in other posts. Do you come to Chat? If so, who are you there? I hate the use of multiple nicks in chat almost as much as I hate multiple personalities on forums. I am ShadowMasterCM on the forums, in chat, on messengers, in email...I dont try to create multiple alias so that I can say different things to different people. I do however keep my real life seperate to a degree from my online life, because there are real nut jobs out there that cant seperate reality from fantasy. I advise all people to do the same.

My 'real life experience' comments were not said to directly attack you. No one needs to know what your personal life experience is as it does not relate to running the game. I was refering to the questions about my abilities to run the game, as I thought I had made clear, by my detailed examples that followed in that post.

As far as making me angry...my point was it will take far more than a bunch of whining or bitching to make me do things in game, either as a player or an admin, based on emotional reactions. Life is far to short to let stupid shit like this stress me out, and then make poor choices because of emotions.

All of my actions will be based on clearly stated policies of the game. If someone for example is caught 'hacking' into the servers, I will have zero guilt pressing legal criminal charges against said person. I dont care if they are a bored teenager, a drunk adult, a player seeking vengance, or even a large donor who was curious...there is no reason in my mind to justify that sort of action, and the consequnces will be as severe as allowed by law.

To take that to the next phase of 'If you don't like it, tough shit'. Yes, in every instance that someone violates game policy, or does something which will harm the present game, or its future...you bet your ass my attitude will be one of self preservation for the game.

Now to take a different perspective on that 'attitude' and apply it to what you were more likely trying to point out...setting policies, rules and concepts for the game. Any intelligent person knows that no one rule or policy will make 100% of a diverse group happy. Neveron has a diverse group. So to expect all policies to make them 100% happy is insane.

There have been claims in the past that the creators of this game used to bend policy for the sake of its 'high roller' donators. There has been huge outcry about this type of abuse. Claims that conceptual changes have been done to merely please the donor playerbase requests, and that the average joe had no say.

Donors have in the past, as well as recently tried to manipulate me personally with promises of X donation. I have turned down offers as high as $200k USD in funding, because there were both clear and transparent 'strings' attached to the money.

I have been playing this game since Fall 2005, and during that time I have made many friends. I have family that have actually played this game in the past, and may very well again in the future.

The playerbase may have concerns about a 'player' being the admin as well. I have been told by players that I can no longer play the game. My question is why? As long as any empire is played by the same rules that any other empire has to follow there is not a problem. Access to the server would not be used in any tactical means and 'admin' knowledge would not be used to alter events.

A good admin should always play the game so that they can see what the player sees, as well as test things personally before, during and after a new concept is released. Are there so few people that can understand the concept of professionalism? Is there no such thing as proper morale conduct in people anymore? Why is it so hard for people to hold themselves to a higher morale standard than the people around them?

Player feedback will be provided to me from the publically available forums. There will be no 'backroom meetings' where the 'real information' is handled. There will be no special influence that any particular player has based on any of the relationships that I mentioned above.

There will be smaller groups brought together when needed to discuss changes about a particular topic, in a environment more easily controlled than the forums or main chat. How do I plan to select the players for these 'groups'? The people who have presented thier ideas for that topic, in an intelligent and mature manner, on the forums and in chat. Every player will literally have equal opportunity to have an influence on this games future development, if THEY chose to get involved.

Once I feel that I have all the facts available on a particular topic, then I will create new concepts and policies for the game. My one and only goal will be to do what is best for the game, and its long term future and growth. As stated above, the playerbase is a diverse group. Not every policy made or concept change will please 100% of the playerbase. To think that it will is insane.

So to summarize all of this...

TRK, Im not sure why you felt the need to make this public proclamation about what you see coming. You have shared no incredible wisdom nor insight into the monster "ShadowMasterCM" and his plans to ruin the game further.

I have always made it clear that I follow the rules of the game as they are intended. I do NOT try to manipulate things to my advantage and then justify why later. I have always had a higher moral basis that I use when im interacting with people in this game. ..."If you don't like it, tough shit".

If you break policy; or think you will sway my influence; or kick, scream or hollar about any topic with no solid facts to support your point...then yeah my attitude will be exactly as you said you 'see coming'..."If you don't like it, tough shit".

Players that think that the game will be customized to thier specific wants and needs are in for a huge disappointment. ..."If you don't like it, tough shit".

Players that decide its better to cheat than to play by the rules are also in for a rude awakening. ..."If you don't like it, tough shit".

Players that are simply filled with extreme negativity and otherwise offer nothing productive to the game will not only be asked to leave, but they most certainly wont be missed. ..."If you don't like it, tough shit".

I believe everyone is entitled to thier opinions. If you feel the need to share it with the games playerbase via the forums and chat, you better have something to back up your statements other than bitching and whining and empty threats.

I agree with most of what you say SM (you turned down 200k? Idiot. Take it, go on holiday and post that player X tried to bribe you from some beach in Bermuda).

However, on the grounds of you still having an empire... still not convinced. Why can't you have one?

1) It means that you, an admin, are attacking people who play this game, who may have spent money on the game.

2) Anyone who gets annoyed at you will attack you and your entire alliance to get revenge.

Randy tried it before...

My post was not to try and pump myself up somehow or an atempt to make you look bad. I was merely giving you a heads up on what I see happening. You can do whatever you want with the information.

Does it really matter who I am SM? Really?

Exactly what am I bitching and whining about? Seems kind of inflamatory to me

I am not going to spend hours filtering through your posts to point out x and y reasons, it isnt worth my time, either you get it or you dont, I guess you dont. I am not trying to prove anything, merely something to think about.

My posts were not for me, there were for you, to point at something that I see. And like I said I could be wrong, can you admit when you are wrong? As time goes by it will be more difficult.

My point has nothing to do with rules or even the game itself, but mental attitude of an admin.

I have nothing agaisnt you SM, I have seen this situation develop more than once to admins, leaders and supervisors of all sorts. In such a situation it is very difficult to remain objective and nuetral, but still provide to those that need it.

If you do end up running this game full time, let me check back in a year and we can see. I have all the patience in the world.

P.S. You wanting to actually run an empire on Neveron and be an admin at the same time seems to prove some of what I say.

P.P.S. My nick in chat is Match, I changed it years ago, that is my perogative.

honestly, how many people running games on the web have had experience before they ran their own? not many if any at all.

I dont blame you for wanting to be cautious, but projecting something like what randy did into a new admin without giving them the chance to prove otherwise is wrong. Given the past problems, I can see why you would feel that way. It will be a while before things start to change. Some problems will take a lot longer then others, but atleast give sm some space. Let them prove they are or aren't like past admins by their own merits.

as for owning an empire while being an admin. I can see owning one that is to be the training faction if that is the option that you are gonna go through. I do see where matt and trk have a point. It will be difficult, if not impossible to avoid people hitting it just to show their displeasure. Any such empire would have to be pulled out of the main stream to avoid this problem as well as accusations of foul play. I can see having 2 such empires such as the admins used to use to check new ideas, or try to reproduce glitches/cheats/bugs.
This will suck, since you did put so much time and effort into the empire. I dont have any ideas to even offer to fix or modify this potential problem.

It has NOTHING to do with Randy, WWS, or Neveron.

It has EVERYTHING to do with someone's attitude in any place of power.

let's all rember that SM has a razor he walking as far as making changes to nev,and its not a place id wish to be as he has to balance donaters vs non donaters vs whats best for the game vs being nuetral as far as not making changes that helps himself over the other factors.I wont say i have seen a couple ideas that i dont like for different reasons,But im waiting to see how it all works out,and if its needed i will PM SM and talk to him about it as its sometimes easier to talk to someone about a possible problem then it is to post here and wait for there answer.I plan on being as patiant as possible and helping SM in any way he asks me that i can
