mechs and a few issues

How about the ability to decom mechs? Also, how about the ability to move unused/salvaged mechs around the empire like you can vehicles? Having to sell them to yourself in order to send them to another zone is a real pain.
The ability to decom mechs will help empires that have been devastated in war recover alittle easier, since not having to scrap/stable expensive or dp only mechs would be more preferable. Also not having the extra costs of having to keep it mobilized would help. Granted, building more residentials would probably be cheaper.
Maybe set a limit on how many times you can move an unused mech around in an empire, to avoid those about to lose zones from constantly moving them around.

The ability to decom mechs would likely get abused too much. It would allow people to move mechs around empires as they wanted and allow empires that are DoW'd to suddenly bulk up on good mechs very easily.
It would be nice to be able to move around salvaged mechs, though...

technically empires could do that right now. I can see where it would be abused by larger empires to suddenly drop down, dow then recom immediately. Maybe put in a 30 nev day delay before they could recom or something. another way to limit it might be having to have omt before you could decom a mech. There are a few other ways to limit abuses. It was put up to get some ideas/feedback on wiether either is a good idea or not.

how about a way to stable mechs when you are in omt, and the mech gets flagged, then flagged mechs can be "shipped" out of the stable for a certain price based upon the size of the mech and the size of the empire.

abusable, but could work. would have to base it on the surrender already in place and not before. Honestly, i would suggest the person not be able to use the units like a stabled unit can be, since they could keep using it for fights, and gain skills/rep without the risk, until they need it in a war. Probably a few other things that need to be said, but cannt think of them at the moment.

hmmmmm how about an evac option? this would be to avoid omt costs etc. this would only be if you had surrenderd. exp empire A hits empire D surr empire. empire D no longer has the infra to support its SOI req or omt req. you evac your mech units you choose. this is the same as the stable option. but you would not be able to do anything with them period and they still count as bv. no repairs nothing. they are in orbit in a drop ship etc. you would have to pick id assume a limit on the time for this. and even if you get back on your feet infra wise there would be no option to end this early this in my eyes is non-abusable? once the evac time is done they would be able to be used etc. l8rs DABOSS

that is a workable idea. Would suggest that once the mechs are back in operation a seperate charge to the empire based on level/mechs be paid slowly to cover what would have been lost without the evac. It would still 'punish' the loser, but not outright destroy any hopes of getting back on their feet. This charge would have to be looked into to see what would be reasonable. A few other options might work as well.

My main problem would be the saleablitiy of these 'decommed' mechs. Could a high level emp buy a comp of Imps say, then decom them and sell to a lvl 2 emp? Or an emp decom mechs to surrender, thus not actually losing anything?
I dont like it initially, but maybe after more discussion

why not let them ce-comm mechs to surender? why not put in a surender option on the war page? why not allow cancelling of a war without surender (the diplomatic option) why not allow an attack without declaring war? why can my lvl 5 now walk thru an undefended lvl 1 zone to get to another level 5's city? what's the level one gonna do? i'm not taking his city, let him go whine to the nev-un....send in the blue helmets.
the evac idea is great too.
