Is it possible to actually unclaim zones? I can't seem to find the function that would allow me to do so. Thanks for the help.

hello Oda, and welcome to Neveron
Yes, it is possible to unclaim zones, in certain conditions.
click the map tab, enter the coordinates for the actual zone that you are considering to unclaim, and then click 'submit coords'.
The map section, on the left/ main portion of the map will update. The zone your entered will appear a slightly different color. Click on that zone.
Now the information to the right edge will update to that zone. Your empire name, faction and so on should all be listed there.
To unclaim, now you need to click 'Terrain Info'. You MAY see information about 'creating terrain' for that zone at the bottom.
Also near the bottom of that section, you should also now see something like this...
Quote:
Unclaim Region (500, 1100) to (?, ?)
...with a white check box. Simply click that box to 'select' it. Now click again on that SAME zone in the map portion on the left.
Now you should see something similar to this...
Quote:
x Unclaim Region (500, 1100) to (500, 1100) Number of unclaimable zones in region: 0 Region is unclaimable: Yes Zones with units/cities will NOT be unclaimed. "Unclaim Selected Region"
...Now if you click that 'unclaim selected region' button, as well as the confirmation pop up that follows, that one zone will atempt to unclaim.
You can also unclaim multiple zones, in a line, or in a square or even rextangle shape by simply clicking a different zone the second time you click the map. all zones between the first zone and the second zone clicked will be marked for uclaiming. Double check that those are all zones you want to actually unclaim.
Some of the reasons why a zone will NOT unclaim, even after going theu this process include:
Quote:
Buildings present (check the Buildings page) Units present Units recently left the zone Production run set to deliver to the zone Mine for sale on marketplace. You can not unclaim zones within your SOI.
This last item 'SOI' can be checked from the map. Usually by clicking on your zones some details will appear in the right edge about the SOI control of that zone:
Zone Under Enemy Influence Control Empire: DummyEmpire (9) What is this?
This means that even tho you physically 'own' that zone, the L9 'DummyEmpire' has SOI control over it. They have the option to 'peacefully' buy it from you for $1M, of which you get 500k. You can also 'unclaim' that zone, since its not under the SOI of any of your nearby cities.
Hopefully this has been helpful
please stop into #Neveron_Newbies chat if you have any more questions about this
