Looks like you better start polishing your rose tinted glasses soon if you want to take a last look back at all your shiny virtual pixel toys (be they looted, bought or crafted) before the clean-up janitor Droids (TM) start sweeping everything into the virtual bit buckets ...

Or maybe everything gets blown up in a series of giant blazes of glory, you know, like in Death Stars (TM) orbiting the SWG worlds, charging their main laser batteries and delivering the final blow, turning entire worlds into asteroid fields ...

Will there be a disruption in The Force (TM), an outcry of thousands of remaining loyal SWG subscribers watching all their hard earned virtual toys turning into virtual pixel dust?

Kind of figured this would happen with launch of OLD REPUBLIC about to happen...LF is cutting off a dying game system and going with the new one. Sounds really familiar to how things normally happen.

As far as I know SOE used to keep even some of the older games with declining numbers on 'life support', available via Sony station pass = limited, if any, support / updates, but at least a last refuge (server) left up and running.

With SW-ToR on the horizon I really expected a similar solution for SWG (life support mode via station pass).

SOE's 'solution' looks a little bit like leading your brave old Tauntaun behind a snow hill and gutting it with a light sabre.

Of course the heroes are going to survive the snow storm but it won't look nor smell like a glorious victory - and the bad smell might stick and stay for a long time ...

Keeping SWG on life support via station pass might have been more expensive but it might have been much better for SOE's reputation in general - and improved long term customer relationships too ...
