More on Building
      #163692 - 02/04/12 02:26 PM (137.186.132.65)

Same topic, different idea. One city empires seem to have a rather large advantage added to thier repertoire.

No?

Also, maybe this is another thread, but what about noobs? They cant even build 25 CF out of the gate. I can see some people maybe sticking around, but possibly only micro management types. Is that what is wanted by the administration?

I've been around for 2 years (I think); I knew this would be a long-haul endeaver - though I really have no idea how it's only been this long... I don't remember how long it took to research 25CF buildings... maybe 2-3 REAL months?

To date, the only things I've actually built (in a factory), were infantry rifles.

As a newb, here is my POV:

This change seems like one that will increase micromanagement. Micromanagement can be fine for some people. However, this is micromanagement to deter building degradation and loss. Simply put this will cost players RL time and in game resources and just be another level of frustration for a game that should be fun. Why would I want to start playing a game where things like tenting empires are fixed by generating a lot of frustration and taking valuable time away from the player? Is this extra time that I would put in to have fun or extra time and nev money that I would have to commit against frustrating building degradation that was not there before? I don't play games that will increase frustration and stress into my life. There is enough of that already. If this is the way TPTB 'fix' issues in NEV, by taking fun out of it, then what's the point for a newb to start playing?

The whole entire point is micromanagement and waisting the player's time so that s/he gets tired of it and goes to a lower level. SM has outright said that is what he is intending to do. The whole point is to waste your time and make you frustrated and pissed off.

SM has said that if you don't like it you can choose to not play. That's bad design coupled with a bad attitude about player retention. =/
