How much are you NOT donating?

I'm guessing no one is donating anymore, so lets figure this out... I'm not sure how high Gunner's pool got, but lets see how much money has not gone into the game, that was originally being planned for donations. Post what you were going to donate before the lovely Codefest happened. I was not part of Gunner's pool and I was planning on sending in $200 before Codefest, but that is no longer happening now. Lets add it all up folks...
--------------------
- Lois: "Peter, how can you tell me to calm down, there are people trying to kill me."
- Stewie: "Really, oh I have so many people to thank. First I would like to thank God, then ummm.... oh yes, SATAN"

I quit donating well before code fest, but if it still counts my minimum monthly donation was $1,000. Max for a single month was $5,120.00. Had he improved things I had intended to donate all I had withheld during the long broken period before he took over. Don't know exactly at this point but it wolud have exceeded $5,000.

Pardon my ignorance of Neveron. Are those real US dollars you're donating monthly, or an in-game denomination?

Most likely no kidding involved, Cray.
Neveron's hardcore elite PvP is 'serious business', at least to some people, might be a 'Mech-ismo (TM, all rights reserved, "Dirtcheap Products for Survival Group"(TM)) thing ...
Just some food for thought ...
Have a nice day / night.

ROFL And for the low-low price of ~$1250, I could fully impliment my web-cam based Geohex simulation arena with manual gripper for mech placement and movement... Actually, I already have most of it, I just have to not be lazy and finish assembling it.
For ~$25k, and ~2000hrs labor/machining/assembly/programming, I'd be able to finish my 1:10th scale Warhammerrr, uhm, prototype... It's still WIP, but for that too, I must not be lazy.

Well, I had $200 in the kitty, Prinz_E had $300, and since he just got hs income tax back, he was gonna go maybe $500 more so we had our own 1K DP pool. How much primalba, Liam, Bakore, or any others were going to kick in is anyone's guess. Maybe $150 total between them.
Instead, we blew it on a LOT of CBT stuff for all the players here (7) to do a table-top CBT campaign. SM's loss.

Yes Cray,
These are US Dollar amounts. I am retired officer from US Armed Forces, ran and sold a family business, own a number of rental properties, and now work as a trainer for advanced software systems for a multi-national corporation. I therefore have substantial expendable income. I am one of the older,(age wise) players in the game.

Dear buc, if you read the following line:
Quote:
Just some food for thought ...
in one of my posts, please consider this often, but not always, being a (more or less subtle) hint for the reader to dare to take a closer look at what has been written - and or to try to read between the lines - and or an encouragement to make up your own mind ...
Now let's take a closer look at the original lines again:
Quote:
Neveron's hardcore elite PvP is 'serious business', at least to some people, might be a 'Mech-ismo (TM, all rights reserved, "Dirtcheap Products for Survival Group"(TM)) thing ...
and now let's try to rephrase it in a less subtle, much more blunt way:
"Neveron's hardcore elite PvP is 'serious business', at least to some people, might be a [Battle]'Mech-[Mach]ismo (TM, all rights reserved, "Dirtcheap Products for Survival Group"(TM)) thing ..."
If you are unfamiliar with the term "Machismo" then please feel free to take a closer look at wikipedia's detailed explanation / definition of terms first:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machismo
I'd like to quote a short excerpt from the wikipedia article:
Quote:
Machismo, or machoism, is a word of Spanish and Portuguese origin that describes prominently exhibited or excessive masculinity.[1] As an attitude, machismo ranges from a personal sense of virility to a more extreme male chauvinism. Characteristics include domineering, fierceness, bravado, etc., in ways that are showily and histrionically tough.
[Battle]'Mech-[Mach]ismo, or for short (and for the pun): 'Mech-ismo, could be referred to as a word that describes prominently exhibited or excessive masculinity when playing with BattleMechs in the fictional BattleTech gaming universe.
As an attitude, 'Mech-ismo ranges from a personal sense of virility [and or a feeling of superiority] to a more extreme male chauvinism.
Characteristics include domineering, fierceness, bravado, etc., in ways that are showily tough.
Or for short (TLDR version): 'Mech-ismo, or how to show off / brag while playing a game revolving around piloting giant BattleMechs and blowing up other peoples' inferior stuff in a more or less typical male way.
Just some food for thought ... [note: This time I would like to encourage the reader / audience to take a moment of contemplation and dare to think about why they play a BattleTech game - and or the way they play ... Please feel free to make up your own mind ...]
Have a nice day / night.
P.S.: I always thought people living in the US of A would be rather familiar with the term "Machismo", you know, just take a look at the streets and watch some of the youngsters (often portrayed by the media as having hispanic ancestry / roots) out there, revving up the big block engines of their pimped up to the max cars (street cruisers) - and or playing around with the pimped up hydraulics systems to show off in front of the sexy young ladies ('chicas') ...
Dang, too bad it looks like one cannot 'trust' the clichés (spelling?) carefully crafted and generously provided by Hollywood's movie industry anymore ...
I mean, "Ay, caramba!" (spelling?), if you can't 'trust' blockbusters like the "Too Fast - Too Furious" movies, whom can you 'trust' at all? [SCNR, just kidding]

Hey, ease up folks. If someone gets under your skin, just ignore the posts before I have to hand out more warnings. Everyone's picking those up quickly this past month.

Click on the user's name to view their profile. When looking at the basic Profile block, along the bottom should be a list of options: Send a Private Message, Add to Address Book, Show All User's Posts, and Ignore User.
I don't know how well "ignore" works, since I've never tried it. When someone got irritating I just skimmed past their posts.

I've been suspecting that since the "message read" alert doesn't get back to me until after I lift the ban. However, when someone is earns a ban I'm not going to wait around for them to read their PMs before activating the ban.
