CORRECTION: the previous post here is untrue, although towers still only fire at single range while player-controlled, they target fine on AI.

I would act all indignant and cry foul, but it would be a lie: I knew he was going to do this. I actually agree with this idea (with the obvious exception of the extra maint. cost for them). If he had also cut the maint. costs I would have actually posted a public mail thanking him. Since he didn't, and failed to tell us before he did it, any good will this could have generated just got pissed away.

See, SM? We don't just **** and whine about changes! We actually LIKE some of them. It's just your half-assed way of doing it, not notifying us of it, and then being a lying little coward that bothers us the most.

The reason I think you are named Shadowmaster? Randy still runs Nev, but he needed someone that wasn't nearly as hated as he was to appear to take over so he could finish screwing the game up. His is still the master in the shdaows, and you are his little puppet.

Some warning would have been nice. Bet over half of nev is currently screwed because their defences were built with the idea that they would be shooting at 2x or 3x range...

Can we get any kind of confirmation on this from someone that has warred lately? There are all kinds of reasons why towers will not fire the full range. I would like someone that really knows one way or the other to tell us.

Pilotted towers never fired at more than 1x range unless there was something within that range to target. The real question is if AI is firing or not.

Yet another thing I was unaware of. Sm would have made a lot of friends instead of enemies if he had documented the game instead of spending his time making yet more un-documented and un-tested new crap.

It was tested again, and they are firing fine on AI, as per normal

x2 x3 rng firing works, just not when piloted. AI uses it though. tested 2/19/2012.

i did NOT make any changes to the towers in existance

the only change was to the tower CREATION process, preventing any further complication of an already fubared situation

Thanks to those that took this rumor and further tested it to determine what was actually going on with this.

Anyone that has open help tickets about this, please close them with some comment about having read this forum post so i know you have been informed and i dont have to read out dated tickets

As for the inconsistant AI issues, like when it can 'stack' units in a single zone, that sort of thing is on the list

in the near future we will likely be looking at removing the existing 2X / 3X towers, so start researching them now, and start replacing them so you are 'ready' when the time comes.

on a side note, ammoless towers are now in fact, towers with no ammo in them. They should simply be targets now. I have warned players about this issue for the last 14 months, and many players scrapped and replaced them already. For those of you that didnt bother to take my warning about using them, well I guess you better hope your enemy doesnt think you still use them

so, instead of remove, can you just turn them into 1x towers?

also, if you are killing of extra range towers, do you plan to remove idf? because if not this game is going to become nothing but snipers...again.

no there will not be any 'conversion' options for existing towers

scrap em and leave em, your choice

as for 2x/3x/idf issues, that will all be sorted likely at the same time. No other details are available on that at this time

so lets see...

old admins left research on 3X boosters for roughly 2+ years - excessive RP awarded

new admin gave away 500 RP to all empires L1 or higher in existance at the time - massive amounts of RP awarded to low level empires

general concept in place with no hard details specifiec yet - no comments offered to be twisted around and taken out of context at this time

feel free to stop wasting the time of people that try to make productive use of the forums by making pointless sarcastic remarks

I do agree with one point KJI makes, it would be nice to know what is going to happen with IDF PRIOR to researching new towers.

not all level 1 empires got the rp, i owned 4 empires, 2 level 1's and 2 level 2's, of those 4 empires, 2 of them got the 500 rp and i am sure others have the same problem. i never bothered to cry about the disparity because it wasn't a big deal, 3 of the empires had, or were almost completed with the lone tower i use, and the other 1 has 1 pop and 1500 bv, not an empire i need research in.

I can attest to the fact that 2 of the 4 empires I owned at the time did not get 500 tp. I didnt complaint about it either, because it didnt really matter to me. But I'm pretty sure there are people out there who, luck of the draw, didnt get any tp at all. I'm sure SM's INTENTION was to give everyone 500 tp, and he THINKS he gave 500 tp. But the reality is he didn't give everyone 500 tp, because neveron never works as intended. Ironic, no?

That double range towers would only target at single range was a rumour. But it seemed quite likely it could be true, because codefest has forced so many other "improvements" on us without anyone bothering to tell the playerbase. If there was a better relationship between players and admins, we'd have just said "nah, that's bollocks" and gone on with life. Instead we have this...

Good point. afaik, everyone believed it was true, simply cause we almost expect changes to be put on us without any forewarning now.
