TRAINING BUG
      #164092 - 02/16/12 02:51 AM (76.17.189.42)

it must be, it seems in my tanks that my driver has improving gunnery skills, but not much, and my gunners are mastering the art of driving. i have also noticed a mech pilot who has improved to 7 in infantry skill. this system is working wonders, now when my mech dies because the pilot can't hit anything, at least maybe he can run around and shoot the enemies in the foot, though with his mech gunnery at 5 and his inf at 7, maybe he can't hit them anyways.

this is stupid, fix it.

In the past two(?) weeks, many of my "good" units (mechs) have skilled up (worsened) when vehicles like Jeeps, have gone down (but some up too). This even happened when I had training to Maximum. RNG is NOT RNG.

It's quite simple:

Each skill lower, your chances of skilling down half and your chances of skilling up double.

i know this mb, the point is my mech pilot has his inf skill going down while his actual piloting skill increases....we don;t even have infantry in this game anymore, why the hell is the skill improving?

Sorry, I was replying to Hythos.

And don't you want to get good infantry skills?

I understand where it's supposed to be, MB, but on the maximum training?
What we're seeing, are skills fluctuating WHILE they're still in training. I suppose it's realistic in one's college years when they can go on weekly drunken binges - but sparatic ups-and-downs isn't as likely.

I need to just look at it from a macro perspective vsx a micro one - I have far fewer units than most of you, so any one pilot makes that much more of a significant difference to me.

** Edit - I've read SM's description on skill-ups being independent from Training.... While it's a bummer, I feel real skill fluctuation should take active training into consideration

Yes, the system makes perfect sense when you look at it that way.

I am training every single unit in my empire with the same amount of training, a blanket. Heck I am even training non-existant crews in vehicles that are stored, or on the market! Well, that aside, lets look at the first sentence.

"I am training every single unit in my empire with the same amount of training, a blanket."

While I understand this part, the part I do not understand is that soldiers get worse over time. OK, so the more training they get, the worse off they are? Wait, they also have a chance to improve during the training. I see. So, my tanker dude is practicing (training) in his tank and wow! He discovers his skill with an assalt rifle has improved! YES! Wait, what? No infantry units at all? OK, no worries! My mech pilot just skilled down in vehicle gunnery so I can just replace the guy that is good with a rifle! What? My skills get worse if I move over? How come my skills are so poor that if I walk accross the tarmac to a tank, my gunnery increases? How did he actually get good firing a cannon on a tank while driving a mech?

Wait, maybe I dont understand the system at all. Perhaps it really does not make any sense.

Honestly, any MMO player is going to read the training section and just never come back. Thing is, they wont say anything to anyone, they will just leave.

The fact is we are doing him a HUGE service by letting him know we are unhappy. Most unhappy customers just leave and never come back. You have no idea why. A lot of companies would KILL to get the kind of feedback we are giving to SM. No joke.

I've just noticed something, interesting.
We know that Drivers are being trained in VehGunnery now too....

So, I thought I'd take a look at my PEOPLE vs vehicles (starting in one empire that has 72 jeeps).
I sorted the list by [V]ehicle (gunnery).
I compared the Gunners' skill to the skill of the vehicle. If the gunners' gunnery-skill doesn't match that on the vehicle, that means that is the vehicles' pilot...

I then opened the vehicle pane directly, and noticed the "Swap Pilots" button was available. I can't say that I've ever seen it available in the two years I've played. SO, I hit it.

The pilots were corrected, and the new gunners' Gunnery-skill was immediately listed. Additionally, in most cases, the Drivers' skill also increased (while I wasn't exactly watching to see if the Persons' Drive skill was better than the driver).

In all cases, the BV increased. Approximately half of the Jeeps improved, and to my surprise, quite a few were significant increases - such as a 6/7 jeep improving to 5/4, and many others like this.

** IMPORTANT - when trying this, keep in mind your BV *will* increase. SO, if you are trying to keep below a specific BV to prevent EmpireLevel+1, you should plan accordingly...

Now, on a flip-side, I'm interested in knowing if this would allow for a semi-artificial method of reducing BV temporarily to prevent "leveling up", and then to switch pilots back to re-inflate BV with better pilots in prepration for war... this way someone could hover within 100pts of the next Empire Level, then switch back with a much higher BV. I could see a use for it, but you guys would know better than I, if there'd be any point in doing so.

You cant switch them back - the button is only there is the pilots gunner is better than the gunners.

ok, what i meant is the button isn't there once the gunner is better than the pilot. If you cheat by direct links or whatever, you might be able to :P

Yes, Neveron is pretty much wide open when it comes to pasting URL's.

Really SM did not understand this?

It is one of the worst things by far plaguing this game.
