Overview: Designed in 2860 near the end of the 2nd Succession War, the STRK-100 Sunstreak was a pessimistic but forward looking mech design. Seeing the rapid decline in technology CMCDesings specifed the mech's design to reduce the difficulty in obtaining parts. However, the resulting lack of cutting edge technology doomed the mech to obsurity for half a century while the Houses slowly realized that their advanced pulse lasers were becoming increasingly rarer and diffiucult to replace. Although the Sunstreak was well suited to deal with this problem, the destruction of the 3rd Succession War substantially suppressed production of the Sunstreak. Nevertheless, a consistant trickle (4-6 per year for most of the Houses) of the design flowed into the Inner Sphere beginning in 2871.
Designed with basic battlemech parts and equipment the Sunstreak is relatively easy to maintain and repair as long as damage is light. Its primary role is as a fast scout, however, it was also designed with slightly over sized hand maniupulators so it could also be used as a "smash-and-grab" raider.
Capabilities: As a scout the Sunstreak easily surpasses the Locust and Mercury in speed (10/15/0), but a mere 2.5 tons of armor make it one of the more lightly armored mechs ever produced. The Sunstreak mounts a pair of medium lasers in approximately the sternum area of its humanoid style chest. The lasers are primarily defensive in nature, yet powerful enough to execute quick-strike raiding actions.
Deployment: Sunstreaks can be found scattered throughout the Innershpere in both House and mercneary units with the exception of House Steiner, where the mech's high speed and light armor are too much of a mismatch to effectively integrate with their typical unit composition of slow, heavily armored millitary assets.

I am not sure that this mech can be "improved" all that much. There is just to little to work with.
I am not sure that this would be an improvement so I am not sure that I would do it, but drop the engine down to a 180 and add one and a half tons of armor. I would have liked to add another medium laser but there is just nothing that I can take the weight away from.
Why argue if the glass is half full or half empty, when you know someone is going to knock it over and spill it anyways.
I was a Major *pain* before
But I got a promotion.
I am now a General *pain*
Yay for promotions!!!

Well, you've got that right.
I might consider dropping/downgrading a laser for some more armor. But as it is you can take a medium laser blast to any section without outright losing it. This one is about the speed, if you take that away all I got left is another version of the Locust.
I think for a 3025 tech level scout it has barely basic survivability but decent firepower with above average speed.
