Mechwarrior Online
      #165997 - 08/07/12 02:47 AM (24.17.137.174)

If any Nev players, or Nev lurkers are planning or even thinking about playing Mechwarrior Online (www.mwomercs.com), we invite you to come play with us in HoC.

We've got a decent core building up, and could always use more good players as we prepare to kick some mercenary butt from one side of the IS to the other.

We don't care who you are, or were, on Neveron. Friend or foe, if you can shoot straight and we can get along with you, things will be fine. We all pretty much know each other as well as a gaming community can anyway, right?

So, if you're down with piloting a `mech alongside some old school HoC friends or foes, come talk to us.

www.hocgaming.com

The only rule: don't be a dick. Also, don't shoot Kato in the back. Especially when he's on your side and it's 5 seconds into a match. Those are the only rules.

I'm running it on a laptop with a 1GB card and it seems ok. I get a bit of lag, but thats more from my location rather than the game.

If anyone is interested, jump into #hocgaming on IRC, or get into the HoC Team Speak server (details should be available on www.hocgaming.com).

The TS3 info is located there. And re: buc, yeah, what he said. A 1GB card should be doable. Drop in at hocgaming.com if you plan on giving MWO a try.

HoC is pretty much goonsquad mindset. Goonsquad is running in Liao.

For a good podcast on all Mechwarrior, and a generally good time, lookup No Guts No Galaxy podcast.

He's not the only one who doesn't know what he's talking about... Can someone explain it to me??

Oh wait, did he lose a war to hoc 8 years ago? That explains it, never mind

Really, so how do you differ?

Work together. No cheating. Winning is the goal.

Both have an unwarranted bad reputation. (people hate winners) This is probably how the 2 groups are most alike.

HoC and goonsquad both think outside the box to win.
Both exploit intelligence to win. (why this is bad i'll never know)
Both will use an honor code against you to win. (very valid)

Both groups are not bad (some bad eggs in every group).

I think you are ignoring some fundamental truths about what goonsquad is, and why they are hated. HoC shares nothing in common, culturally, with goons that isn't shared with any successful guild or clan on any game.

Having fought for and against both goons and HoC I have found the common goals and general unstandard methods to be similar. Both organizations have bad reputations for winning using unstandard methods. Philosophies are similar, neither abides by cheating. Exploit yes, but as long as its within the rules. With goons moving into Mechwarrior Online it might be good to align in Liao with them to help temper the proper battletech mindset.

Buc...look up goonsquad from google. They are a corp from EVE that expanded to other games. They have forums of thier own. They are very hated in Eve. The reasons are debateable, but as a realist having dealt with them from both sides I have my opinion. Best to look and make your own decision.

I have lost to just about everyone at one time or another in neveron (clans, DEST, SDLF, HoC). Its a war game, I don't always get to win, I understand that.

The goons aren't famous for their "unconventional tactics", they are famous... no, infamous... for the troll antics of a small subset of their core members. They are, after all, the official gaming clan of SomethingAwful. That is what makes goons, goons, not being "hated for their success".

Since you seem to think that Goons came from EVE, and have "forums of their own", I think I understand why you don't see them in the same way I do. You don't really know who goonsquad is. Not a potshot, just an observation.

And to reiterate, HoC is in no way, shape or form anything like the goonsquad, culturally or otherwise. We win some, we lose some. We don't, however, intentionally troll, scam, harass, intimidate, harm or threaten other players. No real, legitimate gaming clan, that plays to have fun and cares about the communities they are involved in would ever stand to be called "just like goonsquad". And I will never accept that phrase being applied in any way, shape or form to the fine group of gaming friends that are called HoC.

Very valid points, and I do know about something aweful. Goons in EVE were just the must proliferate and easy to see. I am just stating that if you catch them at the ground floor, they may be able to be reigned in. Look at how MWO is designed. They can't run an entire house jsut because, not if another large group is out there in the same house. Almost makes for Marik politics.

wow prob the worst game i have ever tried. the laggggggggggggg the worst ive ever seen. and im on a 150/50 connection. tried it on the lowest setting poss still didnt seem to matter. the more you move the worst it got lmfao. so id assume the game is only aimed for uber computer owners. i can run everything from eve online to dcuo with no issues. with laggg this bad its a waste of my time and this was with only 650ish people on. well ive already sent in a ticket to see about getting my 60 bucks back. l8rs DABOSS

A game that is still under development and still in NDA enforced closed beta isn't 100% polished yet? I'm shocked!

then why charge the fee to get the access if it dsnt work should we call it neveron 2? and my computers not a pos either. with 16 gigs of ram it can more then handle the apps this game needs to run. i wouldnt have been pissed if they would have at the very least made people aware they needed a heavy duty rig to play this game. this is alot like what that pos jay did to diablo 3 another game that i had to get my money back on. although my vid cards only a dx-9 and a gig it would be able to run this game in the least amount of settings and it couldnt? yet i can run eve in 1920x1080 with no issues at all. and tbh i think eve is one of the more graph demanding games out. so unless you have run into this issue and have a fix? bite me. l8rs DABOSS
