All quiet on the IRC front..... :)

All Quiet on the Western Front was the best war novel I have ever read... period.

I thought that For Whom the Bell Tolls and A Farewell to Arms were both very good books about war. My personal favorite being A Farewell to Arms.

No, no we're not.

And I mean that in a very real, very literal sense.

Moderators are just like teachers: Over-worked, under-payed, under-appreciated babysitters.

(By the way, I'm kidding.) :D

If you knew what World War 1 was actually like as portrayed by All Quiet on the Western Front, you'd know that A Farewell to Arms was more of a romance story than a war novel meant to make people feel sad at the end. Or something.

They talk about fine living in Italy and all this stuff... I don't like it one bit.

My only complaint about All Quiet on the Western Front was that many descriptions about the ways that the dudes got wounded were unexplained. Unless, of course, those are some pretty darned powerful rifles they're shooting at each other, or if those are some really powerful fragments that are getting thrown out by 9-inch pieces and such.

Curious. It sound like I'm hearing sarcasm from a person that calls it "the recourse of a weak mind." :D

Mostly just a vague Monty Python reference, but yeah, that other thing too.
