Overview: Named after the Soviet General who successfully defended the city of Stalingrad in earth's ancient times, the Chuikov is a dedicated urban combat mech.
Capabilities: The Chuikov was designed with a special vision, a cheap, but capable garrison mech that would be most at home in an urban environment.
The price precluded the use of an XL engine, keeping the speed to a maximum of 62 kph, though it has jump jets capable of moving the mech over most urban obstacles.
The main weapon is a rotary autocannon with 4 tons of ammo, backed up by a large pulse laser and a pair of SRM4 launchers.
11 tons of regular armour on an endo-steel chassis protect the Chuikov from most attacks by anything smaller than itself.
Battle History: The Chuikov is commonly found in most Federated Suns garrisons. In case of war they have standing orders to withdraw into built-up areas and cities and draw the enemy to them, tying down enemy resources and hampering their operations.
Deployment: The majority of Chuikovs are found on the Draconis border and the Outworld Alliance, it is less common on the Capellan-Magistracy borders.
Variants: The Chuikov has few variants, one version replaces the pulse laser with an ER Large Laser and adds a pair of flamers.
