------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Overview:== The Otsuchi (Japanese, "large hammer" because of the heavy pounding the main gun gives to the opposing target) is a fast heavy assault hover tank built by Scarborough Manufactures on the planet Al'Nair in the Draconis Combine during the early stages of the Fourth Succession War. Based on a heavier chassis of the Saladin, it utilizes many of the same parts to keep costs down and production up. The only limitation slowing down the deployment of the Otsuchi is the importation of the Ramsey-65 machine guns from outside the Draconis Combine; while a good and reliable gun used on the rare Goliath battlemech it is hard to get in large orders and there is talks with Bulldog Industries to aquire a machine gun from them.
==Capabilities:== The Otsuchi is built on a heavier chassis then the Saladin, but is equiped with the same armor, communications, and tracking system it shares with the Saracen or Scimitar. The main gun is the Scarborough Original 20 autocannon and 15 rounds for the big gun allow it to pack a mighty punch, but unlike the Saladin it has a turrent giving it the ability to attack from any direction; unlike the run and gun tank its based on which is limited with a forward frontal attack arc. Covered in 7 tons of armor, it has adequate protection for its weight; but must rely on the top speed of a 118 kph and the skill of the driver to avoid becoming a flaming wreck.
==Variants:== As the Otsuchi is generally considered a short range combatant, Scarborough has provided upon request a longer range variant which is easy to produce, all the weapons involved are already used by the Saracen, Scimitar, and Saladin tanks. By removing the AC/20, a single Armstrong Autocannon/5 and Coventry StarLight LRM-10 are mounted in the turrent for long range along with one Guided Technologies SRM-2. One ton of ammo is provided for each weapon. Commanders prefer the longer range variant over the shorter range; though by mixing it up in a ratio of 2 long range to 2 short range tanks in the same unit has confused many opposing forces who think that by getting under the guns of one tank suddenly find themselves crippled by the guns of the other tank.
==Notable Vehicles & Crew:== The "Top Gear" as it is affectionately called by the crew of four; Commander Jeremy Clarkson, Gunner Richard "Hamster" Hammond, radioman James May, and their driver who is only known as "The Stig' , are an honorary tank crew. While doing a review of the Draconis Combine's newest tank for their television program, they unknownly happened to be in the right place at the wrong time when a lance of bandit light Battlemechs landed on the planet for a raid. Engaged in a series of hit and runs with a single ton of ammo provided by the local militia for "entertainment purposes" without an actual tank crew provided (but a single safety inspector had tagged along) this crew of holo-TV show hosts managed to bring down two Wasps, a Javelin, and Valkyrie. The last mech was brought down comicly when the "Stig" was driving the tank in reverse as the turret has been jammed backwards from a lucky strike from the SRM's on the Javelin who had pursued them minutes earlier; as Valkyrie had turned to run after seeing its comrades fall it exposed the thin rear armor, the "Stig" charged the tank in reverse while "Hamster" sighted the gun; Clarkson and May were giving their reviews of the faults and perfections of the Otsuchi tank. With two well placed shots; one to the hip which destablized the mech and last shot to the rear torso which crippled the engine, the Valkyrie fell. Ultimately, Clarkson and May both agreed that the Otsuchi was a fantastic vehicle, while doing very little of the actual work involved of bringing down the pirate mechs.

This is an interesting vehicle. I would say that it would be very welcome in the ranks of the DCMS. It gives them an excellent punch and the price is very reasonable given how much they are spending on mechs.
