Overview:
The Pavedragon is a Search and Rescue Helicopter designed to retrieved downed
pilots and crews stranded in enemy combat zones.
Capabilities:
The Pavedragon is designed to move NOE at high speed to avoid being spotted.
The electronics suite is highly advanced allowing full glass cockpit with night
vision capability. The Beagle Probe can be set to pick up a wide range of
transponders.
Armed to deal with enemy ground forces, the Pavedragon carries a Light PPC,
three machineguns and a pair of rocket launchers to clear the target zone from
enemy troops. The 2 ton infantry bay allows it to carry a squad of infantry
that can be dropped in the target zone to retrieve friendlies. A pair of
paramedics are on hand to deal with injuries and the seating can be quickly
converted into a sickbed though the Pavedragon does not offer full medical
facilities it can keep injured personnel alive long enough to link up with a
MASH unit or field hospital.
Even with a full squad on board the the Pavedragon can carry around 10
passengers and up to 20 in cramped conditions. A winch allows the Pavedragon
to pick up stranded personnel from areas where conditions preclude a landing.
Though not designed as an amphibious vehicle, the Pavedragon can make a brief
landing in water should the situation warrant it, though this is not a
recomended practice.
Battle History:
The Pavedragon was not designed for protracted combat, it carries enough
armament to defend itself and keep enemy forces at bay.
Variants:
An escort version drops the cargo bay for heavier rocket launchers and swaps
the Beagle Probe for an ECM, though it can still carry a squad into combat if
required.
