------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==Overview:== The Medium Tank is a tank designed and produced during the early years of the Star League. The Star League military commisioned military vehicle manufactors to design a medium weight tank for its army. The Medium tank won the contract during field testing when military commanders were impressed by the "spectacular display of the main cannon". The resulting design produced such a medicore tank that it did not recieve an official name designation.
==Capabilities:== The Medium Tank's has very medicore combat performance. It's speed is rather slow, topping out at 54 km/h. It does have a heavier then normal armor then other tanks of its size, with 9 tons. It's one saving grace is its main weapon system, a Particle Projection Cannon which bedazzled the officers and won the contract bid. Three LRM-5 back up the main gun, giving it impressive long range fire power. Two machine guns provide anti-infantry protection.
==Variants:== The only variant is a correction in it's weapon systems to provide close range protection. One of the LRM-5's is replaced with a SRM-4 and one ton of ammo. This variant, designated the M4, has allowed Medium Tank units to operate in closer deployment ranges.
==Deployment== Due to the slow speed of the Medium Tank, it is often deployed in a support or ambush role, where it can provide long range support with its weapon systems. Often, Medium tanks deployed in pairs or lances are spaced several hundred meters apart to provide protection for each other should an enemy unit get under the guns of it's PPC or LRMs.

It has impressive firepower but it is slow for it's weight class and that could be a big draw back. Even 40 ton tanks of the 3025 era moved 5/8n and you cover that well and use it to build life into the vehicle which is a good thing.

I honestly think in a lvl 1 game, this tank would do fairly well, despite its slow speed. It, as you mentioned, has impressive firepower for its weight class. If against the stock designs for example, fast light mechs (Wasp, Stinger, Locust) could close the gap and do some damage, but a lucky salvo could decimate its paper armor. Your typical mediocre-ish medium (Enforcer, Centurion) mechs would be fairly even against it. Now heavy mechs are what the Medium Tank would have to fear, having an average speed of 4/6, and average armor of about 10-12 tons, and more impressive firepower (T-Bolt, Orion, Warhammer, Archer, Marauder). Assaults would be a case by case basis; an Awesome is just awesome and I would self-aspode the tank for the enemy. An Atlas would probably take a pounding before peeling off the turret. A Stalker would vary depending on terrain and dice rolls. And something like a Victor would depend on how quickly the mech could close the range.
